Yep. Infrastructure is at least capable of helping the economy; research is also helpful but it's not as consistently helpful.

When it comes to technologies and efficiency it can be helpful in monumental strides

Look at the internet we're typing on right now, that's thanks to DARPA research from the '60s originally IIRC

I think if we reach efficiency with certain products, utilities and the such we can lower the cost of living, and in turn that would allow for families to be single income again.

That's really my motivation.
