Don Jr's busy with the company and being a madman on Twitter

2018-02-02 04:05:45 UTC

the GOP can maintain this momentum by crafting a popular infrastructure bill

2018-02-02 04:06:10 UTC

the thing is, infrastructure is a Democrat idea

2018-02-02 04:06:15 UTC

How would the Democrats play into that

2018-02-02 04:06:29 UTC

it'd help Trump, but Trump's not up for election

2018-02-02 04:06:31 UTC

i'm not sure what a Republican infrastructure legislation would look like

2018-02-02 04:07:28 UTC

idk, really it seems universal

2018-02-02 04:07:40 UTC

more roads, fixed buildings, the nine yards

2018-02-02 04:08:15 UTC

How do you think a rail line system in the US would work like they have in Europe or Japan?

2018-02-02 04:09:52 UTC

You pay a ticket price, you go from city to city, high speed.

2018-02-02 04:21:18 UTC

Infrastructure has always been a more Republican type of spending program.

2018-02-02 04:21:29 UTC

in what sense

2018-02-02 04:21:38 UTC

doesn't really seem too partisan to me imo

2018-02-02 04:21:58 UTC

The WPA and crap did nothing but build statues of naked people and crap, and FDR basically did nothing but minimum wage and welfare crap otherwise.

2018-02-02 04:22:11 UTC

Then Eisenhower came in and built the Interstate

2018-02-02 04:22:28 UTC

Then LBJ came in and passed more gibsmedats for the black voters

2018-02-02 04:23:17 UTC

you're missing the part when kennedy got his head plastered on his motorcade by LBJ et al

2018-02-02 04:23:44 UTC

Kennedy didn't do anything except tax cuts and Apollo.

2018-02-02 04:24:03 UTC

anyways, go on

2018-02-02 04:24:13 UTC

The gap between Republicans and Democrats on space tends to be that Republicans want to actually do shit in space, and Democrats want to play space cadet.

2018-02-02 04:24:42 UTC

right, we had SDI which was missile defense

2018-02-02 04:24:47 UTC

The Democrats went to the Moon with Apollo, took 2 steps, and went "wtf my feet are bouncing"

2018-02-02 04:24:51 UTC

And then went back home

2018-02-02 04:25:05 UTC

Bush on the other hand proposed a full colonization program with Constellation.

2018-02-02 04:25:09 UTC

wasn't that '69

2018-02-02 04:26:03 UTC

anyways, I get what you mean

2018-02-02 04:26:21 UTC

there's really two types of spending, productive spending and unproductive spending

2018-02-02 04:26:22 UTC

Yeah, but it was from 1963 to 1969. Nixon cancelled it after 1972 because it wasn't really accomplishing much anymore.

2018-02-02 04:26:35 UTC

Indeed.

2018-02-02 04:26:55 UTC

I think in terms of social welfare programs you need a society of potential workers

2018-02-02 04:27:07 UTC

for that you need more homogenity and the such

2018-02-02 04:28:01 UTC

otherwise it devolves into degenerates waiting for their checks every months sitting on their asses like in our reality

2018-02-02 04:28:10 UTC

Indeed.

2018-02-02 04:28:47 UTC

I definitely think that if we are going to spend money, put it into stuff like research and infrastructure

2018-02-02 04:29:21 UTC

if we do have welfare, put it into welfare for the Veterans

2018-02-02 04:30:09 UTC

then it's a reward and not just some presents from uncle sam

2018-02-02 04:31:17 UTC

Yep. Infrastructure is at least capable of helping the economy; research is also helpful but it's not as consistently helpful.

2018-02-02 04:31:47 UTC

When it comes to technologies and efficiency it can be helpful in monumental strides

2018-02-02 04:32:17 UTC

Look at the internet we're typing on right now, that's thanks to DARPA research from the '60s originally IIRC

2018-02-02 04:33:13 UTC

I think if we reach efficiency with certain products, utilities and the such we can lower the cost of living, and in turn that would allow for families to be single income again.

2018-02-02 04:33:32 UTC

That's really my motivation.
