I kinda figured. Since I have a MA/COM, Tyco, Ericsson, Harris collection of radios I am pretty covered in the following band splits: 136-174MHz, 335-380MHz, 378-470MHz, 440-512MHz, 450-522MHz, 764-870MHz, and 896-941MHz. I can do analog and P25Conventional and encrypt everything, too. I should spend time with the other brand radios I've collected over the years but the time........
Yeah, radios are an endless black hole
As an electrician I like learning the science, but radios for me are just a tool
I'm just the type that has to know everything about the tools I use
I'm a P25 Technician, been in the industry since 2012 and I am still learning stuff. I am a rock star with the terminals, becoming savvy with sites so I can get into the software side of them without breaking them, but I am still dangerous to the IP network side because I don't know what to touch/not touch without bringing the whole empire down......oops, wrong block, sorry! So I stay away from the Core........
Lmfao
Is that something that you went to school for?
I have a BA in Psych......
I started as a software tester and through internal training grew into my current career track.
Ah, okay
Engineers seek me out for my hands on knowledge.
I started as an industrial mechanic, just always been good with electrical and electronics, electricians in the industrial world are hard to come by, so I always ended up being the guy that got tasked with those jobs.
Making yourself a valued resource is good for the resume.
Absolutely
So I went to a vocational high school for Industrial maintenance, but ended up getting into the music industry and went on my first national tour between Jr and Sr year of high school. Graduated in 2001 and dove into the production world, spent 17 years doing that, worked my way up to running 60k people festivals. But the industry went full commie and I had to get out.
But I always did industrial electrician work in the off season, so I'm back doing that full time the last few years... kinda nice just collecting a check every week, vs chasing assholes down for your money.
I hate electrical because of the bite but I dive in when I have to fix something. Google and YouTube are my friends. I'm pretty good mechanically, I do a lot of my vehicle maintenance. I've split the case on a motorcycle engine and do all the maintenance on my fleet of bikes, did more than one engine swap on cars, have Frankenstein'd things to work from various parts......being self reliant saves money.
I work on cars too... had a 1992 eagle Talon that I completely rebuilt as a race car then sold.
Wasn't the Talon a descendant from the Conquest/Starion?
Kinda... same as the Mitsubishi eclipse, badged as "eagle"... more of an early EVO.
My folks had a neighbor who had either a Conquest or Starion, I don't quite recall which of the two as this was back in the late 80s and I was drooling over motorcycles and Muscle Cars.
They are the same car, so it doesn't really matter
I've always liked them, but they were weak and underpowered... they were designed to be group B rally cars, so the plan was to gut them anyway
The lines were cool to that body style but give me a V8 any day, especially a Wedge.
Now what
Figured out how to play classic rock 🤔
Lol
I'm learning, leave me alone lol
