What’s the point of running comms if you don’t have a team to communicate with? That’s what I don’t get.
Listening to police scanners, in case you link up with a team
Most big departments have encrypted comms now.
@Bogs_Bunny believe it or not NYPD isn't
Surely theres a way to get in to those encrypted comms...
I’m not around any big departments
Not something that can be hacked, you'd have to have a very expensive radio, the keyloader, and the exact key directly from the comms people.
@GRANITE The ability to talk to people in the future. Also no team to talk to here, but i think having a simple set up makes sense... But has always been towards the back burner...
> I recommend the Baofeng UV-82HP in particular for a first timer.
@Bogs_Bunny Anarchy, ive got a set of 5ra's, i should grab an 82??
@ChefJeff77 no those are fine. Not worth switching. I just think the 82s are a little nicer is all
I was ust getting ready to grab extended batteries and such for the 5s.
Looks like the 82 is a good price right now, ill check out the differences
I bought an adapter that lets me power it with four AA batteries. I'm not sure if it's official by Baofeng or third party lol
It works though, so I'm happy.
I think i saw that when i was looking around on amazon
Snagged an 82, battery,, and mic.
are throat mics still useful or have they gone the way of the dodo?
Very much in use, but very expensive
Also bone conduction mics are a thing.
If you spend enough, sure
Lots of good comms stuff in that group
anyone know if i can own an an-prc-152 legally, and where to get one
or atleast a good UHF radio?
Is that close enough?
is it legit?
I look at eBay
They’re all from China
👀👀
Because they are illegal replicas...
They are about as legit as you're gonna find that's useful
You wouldn't know what to do with a real one... not many would.
10 watts, dual band, waterproof, solid aluminum shell, takes all real military accessories and uses real Harris batteries.
The Facebook group above has a ton of info and parts available... ask people there about them.
I'm sure this has been answered before (scrolled up a bit and didn't see it so sorry in advance) decent comtacs that won't break the bank?
Used comtac III's for around 300
was looking at those, found walker razors for relatively cheap...i'm assuming they're cheap cause they're not worth a shit yeah?
Probably, not ones I'm familiar with, so most likely, lol
