What’s the point of running comms if you don’t have a team to communicate with? That’s what I don’t get.

2020-05-13 14:41:56 UTC

Listening to police scanners, in case you link up with a team

2020-05-13 14:56:14 UTC

Most big departments have encrypted comms now.

2020-05-13 15:08:00 UTC

@Bogs_Bunny believe it or not NYPD isn't

2020-05-13 15:21:39 UTC

Surely theres a way to get in to those encrypted comms...

2020-05-13 15:24:22 UTC

I’m not around any big departments

2020-05-13 15:24:52 UTC

@Killgore not a chance

2020-05-13 15:25:51 UTC

Not something that can be hacked, you'd have to have a very expensive radio, the keyloader, and the exact key directly from the comms people.

2020-05-13 16:26:31 UTC

@GRANITE The ability to talk to people in the future. Also no team to talk to here, but i think having a simple set up makes sense... But has always been towards the back burner...

@Bogs_Bunny Anarchy, ive got a set of 5ra's, i should grab an 82??

2020-05-13 17:14:39 UTC

@ChefJeff77 no those are fine. Not worth switching. I just think the 82s are a little nicer is all

2020-05-13 17:15:30 UTC

I was ust getting ready to grab extended batteries and such for the 5s.

2020-05-13 17:15:50 UTC

Looks like the 82 is a good price right now, ill check out the differences

2020-05-13 17:38:00 UTC

I bought an adapter that lets me power it with four AA batteries. I'm not sure if it's official by Baofeng or third party lol

2020-05-13 17:38:31 UTC

It works though, so I'm happy.

2020-05-13 17:52:42 UTC

I think i saw that when i was looking around on amazon

2020-05-13 22:10:23 UTC

Snagged an 82, battery,, and mic.

2020-05-13 22:10:37 UTC

are throat mics still useful or have they gone the way of the dodo?

2020-05-13 22:10:58 UTC

Very much in use, but very expensive

2020-05-13 22:11:11 UTC

Also bone conduction mics are a thing.

2020-05-13 22:11:29 UTC

nice, are bone conducting head sets viable for comms ?

2020-05-13 22:11:43 UTC

If you spend enough, sure

2020-05-13 22:12:52 UTC

Lots of good comms stuff in that group

2020-05-13 23:36:18 UTC

anyone know if i can own an an-prc-152 legally, and where to get one

2020-05-13 23:36:25 UTC

or atleast a good UHF radio?

2020-05-14 00:31:36 UTC

Is that close enough?

2020-05-14 00:56:38 UTC

is it legit?

2020-05-14 00:56:43 UTC

I look at eBay

2020-05-14 00:56:47 UTC

They’re all from China

2020-05-14 00:56:50 UTC

👀👀

2020-05-14 00:57:11 UTC

Because they are illegal replicas...

2020-05-14 00:57:29 UTC

They are about as legit as you're gonna find that's useful

2020-05-14 00:58:03 UTC

You wouldn't know what to do with a real one... not many would.

2020-05-14 00:59:19 UTC

10 watts, dual band, waterproof, solid aluminum shell, takes all real military accessories and uses real Harris batteries.

2020-05-14 01:00:11 UTC

The Facebook group above has a ton of info and parts available... ask people there about them.

2020-05-14 23:39:52 UTC

I'm sure this has been answered before (scrolled up a bit and didn't see it so sorry in advance) decent comtacs that won't break the bank?

2020-05-14 23:40:11 UTC

Used comtac III's for around 300

2020-05-14 23:41:45 UTC

was looking at those, found walker razors for relatively cheap...i'm assuming they're cheap cause they're not worth a shit yeah?

2020-05-14 23:42:18 UTC

Probably, not ones I'm familiar with, so most likely, lol
