And the ones willing to do a BOS...can’t beat that

2020-05-04 21:46:55 UTC

If the price is right I may be willing to go 308 instead of 6.5

2020-05-04 21:53:28 UTC

I thought that’s what you wanted?

2020-05-04 21:53:30 UTC

308?

2020-05-04 21:54:43 UTC

I'd like to have something that, perhaps with the right barrel and load, can make a mile with the right person behind it, as that's as far as the ranges around here seem to go. Basically trying to get the most bang for my buck in a single rifle that I can learn with, so the two calibers that can do that while still being common enough are 6.5 creedmoor and 300 win mag. 300 is a bit hot and isn't allowed at some ranges, so 6.5 is the best all around option for me.

2020-05-04 21:55:28 UTC

Damnnnnn you guys have mile ranges there?

2020-05-04 21:55:40 UTC

That way if i move up from the 600-1000 yard classes to longer range shooting, I won't have to buy another rifle

2020-05-04 21:55:52 UTC

Yeah there's one that i know of

2020-05-04 21:56:04 UTC

Well if that’s the case then yea you should sit back and wait and make sure you spend more on glass than the rifle

2020-05-04 21:56:05 UTC

It's out in the middle of nowhere an hour from me

2020-05-04 21:56:46 UTC

Or get the rifle. Put something on it that’s good for that 600-1000 range. Practice that and save for the top glass

2020-05-04 21:56:59 UTC

I had no problem hitting 629 with my 556

2020-05-04 21:57:11 UTC

And it was just a 3-9x40 Nikon p223

2020-05-04 21:57:41 UTC

So I'm looking at the Remington 700 in 6.5 because it's good enough to start with but has enough parts support to easily get a barrel that can do a mile. I'll be buying the optic first though as it's probably going to be more expensive, and more important

2020-05-04 21:58:00 UTC

Sure will be

2020-05-04 21:58:07 UTC

The 700 is a great choice

2020-05-04 21:58:10 UTC

But like I said

2020-05-04 21:58:42 UTC

If you want to get that first and something to go on top that will put you in the shorter range for a bit so you can save for the top glass that wouldn’t be a bad route to go either

2020-05-04 21:58:46 UTC

That way you have a rifle

2020-05-04 21:58:53 UTC

If you don’t already have any

2020-05-04 21:59:06 UTC

If you already have guns then yea just go the way your saying

2020-05-04 22:00:01 UTC

I often hear that the 700 is overpriced for the package you get.

2020-05-04 22:00:18 UTC

I had one 4 years ago

2020-05-04 22:00:22 UTC

After all, Remington kinda went down the shithole over the past few years with QC

2020-05-04 22:00:28 UTC

By the time i have enough experience, i may need to change the barrel anyway lol.
I don't really have anything I could put on it and don't wanna spend the extra money.

2020-05-04 22:00:29 UTC

Then it was good I havent been in the DMR in a bit

2020-05-04 22:00:52 UTC

That’s what confused was saying earlier

2020-05-04 22:00:57 UTC

I didn’t even know that

2020-05-04 22:01:07 UTC

I had mine in 2015

2020-05-04 22:01:21 UTC

I went big on my first rifle, and then made the mistake of getting a cheap scope, haha. It works... I guess, it's just I don't do MOA, and I got it because it was a mildot reticle, but the turrets were MOA.

2020-05-04 22:01:27 UTC

I considered the qc thing but it has the best aftermarket

2020-05-04 22:01:30 UTC

So I can't effectively use it without too much math.

2020-05-04 22:01:43 UTC

It does have a really good aftermarket.

2020-05-04 22:01:59 UTC

So if you were gonna get it, and use it to build from, then it's decent I guess.

2020-05-04 22:02:08 UTC

I went with a Mossberg MVP Precision rifle.

2020-05-04 22:02:58 UTC

Yea I was telling myself I was going to get a DMR for my next purchase but I bought that M6 IC DI instead lol

2020-05-04 22:03:01 UTC

🤷‍♀️

2020-05-04 22:03:12 UTC

Which I’m very happy with

2020-05-04 22:03:47 UTC

I made a 20" AR off of a Aero upper for my 'DMR', but I might make a new one in the future and use a 18" .308 barrel instead.

2020-05-04 22:07:30 UTC

Let your gun grow into the glass not the glass into the gun

Or in layman's terms, buy good glass one time and build the rifle to fit it

2020-05-04 22:07:59 UTC

Yep, I learned that afterwards.
