I'd love to help out on that, but I'm about to deploy here soon, so I won't have the ability to stay constant.

2020-05-02 02:13:25 UTC

Stay safe

2020-05-02 02:14:03 UTC

Thanks, you too.

B word has a filter on it, sorry.

Woof, shoulda kept the typo.

Intel needs its own server for the purposes of formalizing intelligence processes across multiple domains, as well as to provide a platform for more formally allocated workloads in order to generate reports containing all relevant information with respect to an event/concern/operation.

"Read the comments" doesn't scale, and relying on community members to spontaneously generate good info is either unreliable, or will result in a lot of intermittent, redundant efforts.

2020-05-02 19:37:11 UTC

@Reno thanks, should've checked for that before posting

2020-05-02 19:45:50 UTC

Also a weekly “sync” wouldn’t be a bad idea either

2020-05-02 19:47:59 UTC

True

<#704438705947017327> should be a clearinghouse for intelligence products, and a point of contact for the broader Eskimo community

Do we have people here willing to work with and represent regions/areas of intelligence?

2020-05-02 19:54:05 UTC

I’m in NC but I’m not as familiar with the region as a whole as I’m from the north, but I can advise on cyber matters.

2020-05-02 19:59:11 UTC

I don't think we have enough people to justify having anything like bureaus. We need to lay the ground work first, that way we can vet and onboard people in proportion to our capacity and needs.

How we allocate domain authority should similarly be determined early on by the seed population of Intel volunteers.

If we do assign regions, we'd probably begin using FEMA/census style subdivisions

2020-05-02 20:03:22 UTC

That would make sense

2020-05-02 20:04:25 UTC

It’s more to divide up monitoring and reporting

2020-05-02 20:04:48 UTC

Funnel information through a single point for aggregation and validation.

2020-05-02 20:05:22 UTC

Definitely.

2020-05-02 20:06:22 UTC

If we create another server we wouldn't have nearly as many people of course.

2020-05-02 20:07:07 UTC

That'd be the goal. Have a core workgroup. Add/remove people as needed

The point of a second server would be to keep the core Intel population connected, and ensure some institutional memory.

2020-05-02 20:07:53 UTC

As stated. I can advise on cyber/electronic warfare matters since that’s my area of employment

2020-05-02 20:08:26 UTC

Also allow for flexible on-demand channel creation

2020-05-02 20:08:34 UTC

We could make a custom role for the intel community and their own channel, to utilize some of the people already here.

2020-05-02 20:09:01 UTC

Be a good start.

2020-05-02 20:09:49 UTC

The page would remain for disseminating and general discussion for the rest of the community

2020-05-02 20:10:10 UTC

Also let’s not forget the need to train members in local collection and reporting ISO national missions.

2020-05-02 20:11:24 UTC

The former can be this channel. Until we have enough to slip into a separate server, we can discuss structure/organization on an Intel role channel.

2020-05-02 20:12:04 UTC

Creating anything resembling a boojie Intel community ain't an overnight task.

2020-05-02 20:12:26 UTC

Actual operations and Intel product may be a few weeks down the line

2020-05-02 20:13:26 UTC

We need to be sustainable before we're actionable

2020-05-02 20:14:59 UTC

Agreed

2020-05-02 20:15:12 UTC

Just planting the seed and seeing if anyone else wants to join us in this endeavor

2020-05-02 20:15:19 UTC

PMs are always welcome too

Trial channel <#706237510786744332> and role <@&706238245238997072> created. Only users with the <@&706238245238997072> or <@&704442383554838632> role will be able to read or send messages.

2020-05-02 20:22:34 UTC

Role requesting/requirements?

2020-05-02 20:23:42 UTC

It's still in the works, suggestions are welcomed here. I'll be back in a half hour or so.

2020-05-02 20:24:33 UTC

Sounds good
