Went on a field trip to some criminal justice thing for class because part of my IT class is taking a course on cybercrime. We got to meet all sorts of agencies including the okc police and the dea. The only people there who weren't assholes were the park rangers.

Sometimes it's justified, but in those cases they're doing what anyone with a gun would, slotting the dude who's trying to shoot up the place. In those instances, it's not that they're good for being a cop, but rather good because they responsibly used their weapon.

And in every instance, it would have been better if everyone carried

They're taught to treat everyone as if they have a weapon. The reason the cop shines a flashlight in your face is the blind you and use it as a weapon in case you make sudden movements. It's why they get pissed if you don't roll down your window all the way. They're trained to be scared.
