deafheaven is post grunge at best

but totally rehashed shoegaze/emo ideas from the early 90s

when i first gave it a listen, i was really astonished at how mediocre it sounded

What pisses me off about deafheaven is not the music itself but the attention that hipsters give it

it's endearing, really

they've never heard anything of actual substance

The music is just mediocre. It's not terrible, just bland and boring and completely unworthy of the status it is given

this is, at best, borrows substantial sounds from better bands and fails to achieve any improvement

it's not energetic at all

the closest band i've heard to this is between the buried and me

where deafheaven co-opted black metal

BTBAM co-opted jazz

I'd rather listen to Atheist than BTBAM any day

what is interesting

is how difficult it is for any modern band to capture what happened with piece of time

i can see the appeal though

they can only make superficial imitations at best
