did BJJ with a buddy last night. or rather he taught me stuff while kicking my ass
I'm just getting into that martial art, it's been a lot of fun so far.
join a gym
it's worth it
yeah I see that
it's clear that it just takes practice and attention to detail
so there's no way around getting into it in a gym somewhere
I've done other martial arts in the past and when I started I was really suprised how far the gorund game has evolved
It's a pretty diverse crowd - i'd love to see more europeans in class. ehh
i did muay thai/BJJ
very good
Muay Thai, i think it's an excellent striking art. A friend was able to show me some really good refinments for my kicks and hook punch recently - really efficient.
I don't like muay thai
I prefer straighter moves, a lot of theirs are very round
thats true, something more like yoshokin karate or TKD for ya?
xingyi
but yeah things in that direction
I like straight, hard moves with bodyweight behind them
damn man, thats obscure but nice choice
long time ago, maybe when its was DoA 2 or somthing
realistically my striking background is xingyi and kuntao silat, but I did a significant stint of boxing and MMA to add realism
but I need to BJJ and I need it yesterday
I'm really impressed how much sensitivity and skill they can use from literally any angle
and also how tough their bodies become in general
very cool, for me its some old school TKD, bit of karate, some soft chinese stuff too. my ground game is really weak right now. thats how i felt to, very impressed by what i've seen so far.
TKD conditioning and foot speed is really impressive
sometimes I just watch recordings of random TKD classes just to watch their conditioning and drilling and look for ideas
They really have some of the kicking stuff down. I love the variety of round house kicks. I started there but have definitely had to supliment the footwork and aim a lot lower to make it work for me though.
I have this weird thing where I cannot land a round move on anyone
so I just quit trying and mostly only do straight moves now
one of the things I'd be interested in from either MT or TKD would be if they could teach me to land those on resisting opponents
Maybe your telegraphing? Some dudes ive seen had a lot of sucess with bringing their leg straight up then turning it over... like that great holly holm KO recently. Anyway tho, i'm a big believer in focusing a few moves that work for the individual.
yeah if it works why mess with it? lawl
Maybe that's how it will be in BJJ to - im trying to gilloutione everyone. 😃
I don't personally get how a round move could ever not telegraph unless it was at light speed
maybe that's part of it though
Well thanks man you are making me want to get back into it more seriously. Good luck, im out.
later mang
if only he knew the truth
