"FOLK MUSIC" IS USUALLY PRETTY BAD

2017-08-11 15:56:24 UTC

It is also cultural/religious music in a sense. It serves the same purpose as "praise and worship" music for a certain group of people

2017-08-11 16:00:35 UTC

"transcendent" etc. but I think "romantic" carries all of that meaning

2017-08-11 16:00:43 UTC

that's what romanticism is about isn't it after all

2017-08-11 16:02:39 UTC

blind religion/following laws (medieval music, baroque music) ---> enlightenment, abstraction, intellect, distance from "pagan consciousness" (classical music) ---> *CONSCIOUS* rediscovery of faith via intellect and abstraction (Romanticism, Metal, ?Future?)

child -> adolescent -> adult

animal -> man-as-is -> man-as-should-be

Romanticism is based on the texture of life itself, and the discernment of the heart. It is the antithesis of the bureaucratic, office life and of the shallow, atomised, emotional manipulations of modern mass media and leisure; it also rejects the ideals of obedience, submission and group-conformity that traditionalism put at the centre of its moral systems.

Romanticism takes its measure from the texture of life and finds what it seeks in the best moments of actual life, and in a more sustained fashion in the romantic arts.

"The Emperor's New Clothes" - this myth shows us all we have to do. just point and laugh and pop the bubble. "mock him" right? don't argue don't debate just laugh.

2017-08-11 16:47:54 UTC

most people aren't so bad that they will say 2+2=5. they're just repeating stuff and don't have better influences. you can't get them onto more complicated topics but you can reach them at the basic level of pointing out the big lies.

2017-08-11 17:09:18 UTC

I don't disagree with your or Charlton's analysis of Romanticism but I do think that the distinction between that concept and the obedience-based medieval stuff in some ways mirrors Nietzschean concepts of master and slave morality

2017-08-11 17:09:41 UTC

some are not suited to be masters

2017-08-11 17:09:50 UTC

2017-08-11 17:12:42 UTC

2017-08-11 17:12:51 UTC

women can only effectively do three or four things throughout their entire lives

2017-08-11 17:13:01 UTC

it's funny knowing that this is one of them for her

2017-08-11 17:14:49 UTC

2017-08-11 17:17:04 UTC

Metal belongs to the white man.

2017-08-11 17:17:17 UTC

Wagner for the working class white man.

2017-08-11 17:18:38 UTC

metal is so specifically white that it only proliferated during a time when the white soul was under direct assault

2017-08-11 17:19:34 UTC

commercialization didn't kill metal, it accomplished what it needed to, and exhausted its expressive meaning

2017-08-11 17:19:39 UTC

Metal was invented by a wop

2017-08-11 17:19:50 UTC

Thus not white

2017-08-11 17:19:57 UTC
