No fighter hierarchy

2017-09-08 21:41:15 UTC

But other kinds of hierarchies

2017-09-08 21:41:18 UTC

bummer

2017-09-08 21:42:23 UTC

you're too civilized

2017-09-08 21:45:18 UTC

nester doesn't cause problems

2017-09-08 21:45:26 UTC

he doesn't need to know how to fight the way I need to know how to fight

2017-09-08 21:45:47 UTC

Nester I got a religious question for you

2017-09-08 21:46:06 UTC

Shoot

2017-09-08 21:46:20 UTC

to the nearest hundred pages, roughly how long is the koran

2017-09-08 21:46:31 UTC

600 hundred I think

2017-09-08 21:46:35 UTC

okay

2017-09-08 21:46:49 UTC

It's not as long as the bible

2017-09-08 21:47:07 UTC

and it's about the dealings of the prophet muhammad, who muslims religiously follow, correct?

2017-09-08 21:47:50 UTC

Just checked, 604 pages

2017-09-08 21:48:05 UTC

It's partly about that

2017-09-08 21:48:09 UTC

But many other things as well

2017-09-08 21:48:14 UTC

That's alot of fire starter

2017-09-08 21:48:18 UTC

it's significantly about that though, correct?

2017-09-08 21:48:20 UTC

The hadeeth primarily deals with that

2017-09-08 21:48:55 UTC

is that a true enough generality that I can hypothesize from it?

2017-09-08 21:49:23 UTC

Significantly, yes.

2017-09-08 21:49:39 UTC

Most of it doesn't talk about that.

2017-09-08 21:49:59 UTC

okay. So assuming the koran is a 600 page document about muhammad, who was a true prophet, plus other useful doctrine revealed from the true god, let's go from there

2017-09-08 21:50:16 UTC

It's not about muhammad.

2017-09-08 21:50:28 UTC

But he's a recurring topic.

2017-09-08 21:51:05 UTC

let's say, hypothetically speaking, that people following muhammad around all day had an additional 9,500 pages of his direct discourses documented by chronological order and indexed by topic, documented down to the very day and location where each sermon was given

2017-09-08 21:51:09 UTC

The hadeeth documents what he said and what he did and what he approved and disapproved of.

2017-09-08 21:51:41 UTC

That exists.

2017-09-08 21:51:45 UTC

well hold on a sec

2017-09-08 21:51:47 UTC

It's the hadeeth, not the quran.

2017-09-08 21:51:49 UTC

let's say it's on top of what already exists

2017-09-08 21:51:55 UTC

okay

2017-09-08 21:52:07 UTC

so let's change the scenario

2017-09-08 21:52:29 UTC

quran = core religious document, hadeeth = much longer work chronicling everything the true prophet said in great detail

2017-09-08 21:52:35 UTC

There are many times more hadeeth than verses in the quran.

2017-09-08 21:52:56 UTC

Quran, what god said. Hadeeth, what the prophet said and did.

2017-09-08 21:53:07 UTC

Though the prophet is guided by god.

2017-09-08 21:53:35 UTC

if I told you there were muslims who read the quran and believed it was a true book, and that muhammad was a true prophet, but regarding the hadeeth they acknowledged its authenticity yet paradoxically disregarded it as "apocrypha" and never referred to it and strongly discouraged its study, what would you make of that?

2017-09-08 21:53:56 UTC

what would your conclusion be about this hypothetical muslim sect?

2017-09-08 21:54:18 UTC

There are a lot of false hadeeths. Most hadeeths are false.

2017-09-08 21:54:38 UTC

And the sources are the same, so it doesn't make sense to discount the hadeeth but not the quran.
