operation fishbowl

2019-04-20 07:43:14 UTC

they de-orbit over point nemo in the pacific

2019-04-20 07:43:22 UTC

its the largest patch of ocean in the world

2019-04-20 07:43:26 UTC

very safe

2019-04-20 07:43:54 UTC

i have seen a de-orbit myself, its quite spectacualr, you can hear it slightly as it comes lower

2019-04-20 07:44:08 UTC

Couldn't they land it there instead though

2019-04-20 07:44:19 UTC

Just seems a bit weird

2019-04-20 07:44:32 UTC

they cant land it because of fuel issues, they need to expend a lot of energy to slow down

2019-04-20 07:44:46 UTC

they dont have the budget for self landing sats

2019-04-20 07:44:59 UTC

plus it costs a lot of money to re-purpose sats

2019-04-20 07:45:12 UTC

its cheaper to build new ones

2019-04-20 07:45:32 UTC

spaceX do retrieve some of their rocket, they bring back the main stage and land it for re-use

2019-04-20 07:45:38 UTC

im yet to go and see that

2019-04-20 07:46:08 UTC

its hard to slow down something travelling at 17,000 km/h

2019-04-20 07:46:34 UTC

I learn new things here everyday

2019-04-20 07:47:21 UTC

im probably the best person to aks when it comes to orbital mechanics and such, if you have any questions ill try my best to give simple answers

**Ezekiel 1:1-10 - King James Version with Apocrypha (KJVA)**

```Dust
The Prophet's Vision of the Divine Glory
<1> Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. <2> In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoi´achin's captivity, <3> the word of the Lord came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chalde´ans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was there upon him. <4> And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. <5> Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. <6> And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. <7> And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the color of burnished brass. <8> And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. <9> Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. <10> As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. ```
i heard some guys arguing that if the earth was really spinning then if you were hovering in a helecopter then the earth would travel under you, could you tell me anything about that? @Kessler Syndrome
@baritheloser when you are in a car travelling at a constant speed of 60mph, and you throw a ball in the air, the ball will land back into your hand, this is due to relativity
2019-04-20 07:50:48 UTC
the same effect applies to space
2019-04-20 07:50:50 UTC
and the earth
2019-04-20 07:50:56 UTC
the accelleration of the earth is nill
2019-04-20 07:51:06 UTC
therefore we do not feel the accelleration
2019-04-20 07:51:07 UTC
for a brief moment you see a flying humanoid
2019-04-20 07:51:31 UTC
from spinning or movement throughout our solor system or milky way
2019-04-20 07:51:51 UTC
so the atmosphere is traveling with the planet?
2019-04-20 07:52:00 UTC
at the same speed
2019-04-20 07:52:03 UTC
yes
2019-04-20 07:52:08 UTC
It's the heavens above that rotate not us
2019-04-20 07:52:14 UTC
other than weather movement of course
2019-04-20 07:52:33 UTC
Diurnal rotation of the cosmos
2019-04-20 07:53:56 UTC
relative to our postion, everything moves around us, we would seem to be stationary, even the universe itself expands from us, and all galaxies are moving away from us other than one
2019-04-20 07:53:59 UTC
alright, makes sense just the way the guy was wording it was weird
2019-04-20 07:54:02 UTC
but this is just relative
2019-04-20 07:54:22 UTC
but in actuallity we orbit the sun which orbits the milky way
2019-04-20 07:54:34 UTC
Kessler!
2019-04-20 07:54:37 UTC
its just that when the universe is expanding, its expanded everywhere in spacetime
2019-04-20 07:54:43 UTC
its very complex
2019-04-20 07:54:56 UTC
No it dont
