ok so first lets define volcano. Howstuffworks defines it as “a volcano is any place on a planet where some material from the inside of the planet makes its way through to the planet's surface” so now that we have the definition lets get down below the planets surface to the mantle. So how do we know it exist? Well 1 there are volcanos which gets magma from the earths mantle and another way we can prove the existence of the earths mantle is by looking at plate tectonics. Now i bring up plate tectonics because the earths tectonic plates move by convention currents in the mantle of the earth. Now how do we know the mantle has convention currents? Well thats pretty simple because we know that hot things rise and cool things fall, right? Yes they do and by using this we get convection currents which is what’s pushing the tectonic plates, though it may be slow it’s still pushing them. Now lets Look at how this works without the core of the earth and its actually surprisingly simple because it won’t.
