Nah I can see it thanks

The Tsuchinoko point and the Soundtrack I have to disagree on. Mostly about the Tsuchinoko.

MGS is a clusterfuck of easter eggs, so the Tsuchinoko fit in with that. In fact, I feel like a lack of easter eggs is a problem with MGSV. You could say that including the Tsuchinoko is one of the more important choices, almost as important as including a cardboard box or the important choice of including Gako and Kero in MGO3 (which they fucked up BIG TIME by not including.)

As for the soundtrack, the licennsed tracks help with the 80's atmosphere (even if some songs are 90's, they were still picked for the "feeling" they had.)

2017-03-24 20:49:42 UTC

The "bosses" if you can call them that are pretty similar to MGS3

Whittling down health

2017-03-24 20:50:01 UTC

Although I wish there was a sensible non lethal way of taking down skulls

2017-03-24 20:50:17 UTC

there's several actually

2017-03-24 20:50:23 UTC

The tsuchinoko thing I can accept being a very subjective matter but the problem is that it felt particularly special to MGS3 due to the jungle environment and the way it was implemented, as well as the fact it fit in with the goofy undertones

2017-03-24 20:50:31 UTC

CQC is the most common

2017-03-24 20:51:05 UTC

True I had forgotten about that

2017-03-24 20:51:32 UTC

Metal Gear is a very goofy game. Something MGSV lacked, which hammered it's potential big time.

2017-03-24 20:51:33 UTC

not that it matter because they don't die either way

2017-03-24 20:52:16 UTC

MGSV tried to be serious a bit too much and then forgot that it didn't have enough serious stuff

2017-03-24 20:52:21 UTC

Soundtrack I have to respectfully disagree with. I feel like that's a very lazy cop-out. A Phantom Pain is an amazing track that perfectly captures that vibe you're describing and not only was it left unused, simply as a cassette tape, but it was the only one that really took advantage of the setting and style and showed they were capable of making more.

2017-03-24 20:52:30 UTC

well, I guess you could say that those easter eggs aren't the priority in the developpement of the game

2017-03-24 20:52:36 UTC

I quite liked the skullface jeep scene

2017-03-24 20:52:49 UTC

and with the release being rushed, I guess they didn't had time to include goofy easter eggs

2017-03-24 20:52:53 UTC

It was a bit of a breather and pretty funny that snake just sat there

2017-03-24 20:53:33 UTC

Hopefully Survive tries to include more easter eggs, or else it won't survive.

2017-03-24 20:53:50 UTC

I could say all I want about it being rushed and it's potential being hampered but if I'm being honest a game with that much development time should be able to feel more complete even with cuts

2017-03-24 20:54:00 UTC

I still think it's a great game for what was delivered

2017-03-24 20:54:05 UTC

Shame it could have been more

2017-03-24 20:54:22 UTC

The bosses thing I also have to greatly disagree with. Each boss in MGS3, with some exceptions, had very unique approaches to them and how they were handled. The Pain would fall under the exception where it's just fall in the water to dodge and then shoot, but even then you still have to handle the bees on him to make him vulnerable. It's not so different from the stone Skulls, but it's at least a major step up because there's at least some creativity going on there.

2017-03-24 20:54:28 UTC

I doubt so, the tone is set into a zombie co-op survival... for all we know the game might not even include single player, nor a proper story...

2017-03-24 20:54:35 UTC

Yeah ngl I'm not reading your paragraph Homu

2017-03-24 20:54:51 UTC

ok

2017-03-24 20:54:54 UTC

fuck off then

2017-03-24 20:55:00 UTC

They said it has single player. That was one of the first things they wanted to make sure we knew.

2017-03-24 20:55:20 UTC

That point may also be subjective, but in the same way someone's enjoyability of Sonic 06 is subjective. Objectively it's a very poorly directed scene, clearly based off the truck ride in GZ that showed exactly how it SHOULD be done.

2017-03-24 20:56:24 UTC

If I could add someone to that, the exposition should have been shown an an interactive manner rather than just sitting through it

2017-03-24 20:56:40 UTC

*something

2017-03-24 20:57:09 UTC

All it would take is a brief mission where you play as skullface as his village gets attacked

2017-03-24 20:57:20 UTC

That could even draw parallels from the hospital mission

2017-03-24 20:57:29 UTC

Painting the two as sided of the same coin

2017-03-24 20:57:39 UTC

I don't have a problem with the speech persay, I think it's meh as far as MGS boss speeches go, but the problem is the presentation

2017-03-24 20:58:07 UTC

So what you're describing is both the solution and a completely different scene basically

2017-03-24 20:58:49 UTC

I don't think making you play him in that setting would have worked, but just a film clip would have done it basically

2017-03-24 20:58:50 UTC

well @Sexy Zombie Roo okay for the single player, but what about the story ?

2017-03-24 20:59:19 UTC

if the point is playing random missions with different objective without any story behind...

2017-03-24 20:59:55 UTC

That's not an issue as long as it's goofy, which Survive is clearly aiming for.
