National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster is losing favor with President Donald Trump. Joining the White House in the wake

About 7,500 people have been rescued off the coast of Libya since Thursday, the Italian and Libyan coastguards said. Two
groups of survivors told the organizations that hundreds drowned when their rubber boats began to deflate before

More than 60 are feared dead and three bodies were recovered on Saturday, survivors brought to Sicily on Sunday told

While the low volatility that has marked the prior two weeks is certainly anomalous, it is part and parcel of the more general trend of declining market moves. Out of the 9,312 10-session periods the S&P 500 has seen since mid-1980, the S&P has traded in a range smaller than 1 percent in just 10 of them; five of those periods have come in the past year.

The prior 10 periods including Monday have seen an S&P 500 range of just 19.54 points, or 0.82 percent. That's narrowly smaller than the 0.83 percent range seen at the end of July 2016.

Erin Gibbs of S&P Global pins the lack of movement on positive first-quarter earnings, a low rate of earnings misses, and stability in earnings growth estimates. "We're just getting exactly what we expected three months ago," she said Friday on CNBC's " Power Lunch ."

Another cause of the low broad-market movement is the decline in correlations. Individual stocks and sectors are not moving as closely together as they had before, which makes it more difficult for an entire index to see a large (mono-directional) move.

It is worth noting that the low level of actual volatility explains the low readings seen for the CBOE volatility index (STOXX: .VIX) , or the VIX. It is hard for traders to bet on high volatility in the near future when the near past has been marked by almost utter stagnation.

A 30-year-old man originally from Africa is being charged with the murder of two Boston doctors who were discovered dead
with their throats slit in their penthouse apartment Friday night, according to multiple reports.

If the Trump administration sends thousands more American troops to Afghanistan to counter the growing insurgency, the soldiers will find the “devils in baggy pants” waiting for them.

The Army has already announced that 1,500 men and women from a key brigade in the vaunted 82nd Airborne Division, whose Luciferian moniker owes to their battle dress and demeanor, will be sent to the war torn nation this summer. It’s an “advise and assist” mission, but if things go south, the 82nd is rough and ready.

“The 'Devils in Baggy Pants' are well-trained, well-equipped, and ready to assist our Afghan partners as part of the Resolute Support mission," said Col. Toby Magsig, commander of the division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team. “Since spearheading allied assaults in Sicily and Anzio in 1943 the Devil Brigade has accomplished its missions through disciplined initiative."

The Trump Administration is currently reviewing a proposal which calls for thousands more U.S. troops to counter a gathering Taliban threat. U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan peaked in 2011 at 100,000 and decreased each year since, down to 8,400 American men and women in 2017. Trump has not yet signed off on a new strategy, but if more aggressive measures are taken in Afghanistan, the 82nd Airborne Division could play a key part in achieving success.

Lt. Col. Joe Buccino, a spokesman for the 82nd Airborne told Fox News the Combat Brigade’s deployment was not a ramping up of U.S. military in Afghanistan.

The mission of the 82nd Airborne Division is to, “within 18 hours of notification, strategically deploy, conduct forcible entry parachute assault and secure key objectives for follow-on military operations in support of U.S. national interests.”

A fresh study suggests there may be a link between taking high doses of common anti-inflammatory painkillers - such as
ibuprofen - and heart attacks.

The paper, published in The BMJ, builds on a previous body of work linking these drugs to heart problems.

This research suggests the risk could be greatest in the first 30 days of taking the drugs.

But scientists say the findings are not clear cut. They say other factors - not just the pills - could be involved.

In the study an international team of scientists analysed data from 446,763 people to try to understand when heart
problems might arise.

They focused on people prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, celecoxib and
naproxen) by doctors rather than those who bought the painkillers over the counter.

The news of FBI director James Comey’s firing struck like a thunderclap at field offices around the country, where
agents heard first from TV or the internet that their boss had been dismissed by President Donald J. Trump.

“I’m literally in tears right now. That’s all I have to say,” said a longtime special agent who’s known and worked with
Comey for years, who first heard the news on the car radio.

By Tuesday evening, the shock that initially spread throughout the ranks of current and former FBI officials was mixed
with a growing sense of anger among the many Comey loyalists in the bureau, and demands for answers as to why the
director had been fired – and why now.

“We just have no idea why this happened. No idea,” said one recently retired top FBI official who worked closely with
Comey on multiple high-profile investigations. “No one knew this was coming. Everyone is just shocked that this
