campaign staffer for Roy Moore physically confronted a cameraman outside of a rally for the Alabama GOP Senate candidate on Monday night.

A clip shows a man later identified as Tony Goolsby, Moore's Kemper County coordinator, approaching a cameraman and grabbing onto the camera before he was pulled back.

Connor Sheets, a reporter for The Birmingham News, tweeted a video of the encounter.

“Man wearing Roy Moore sticker physically attacked a cameraman attempting to film Moore's arrival outside campaign rally a few minutes ago here in Henagar, Alabama. Another man w/ Moore sticker verbally assaulted a second cameraman,” Sheets wrote.

🇺🇸 **Clinton campaign planned to fire me over email probe, Obama intel watchdog says**
<https://archive.is/tWEfX>

A government watchdog who played a central role in the Hillary Clinton email investigation during the Obama administration told Fox News that he, his family and his staffers faced an intense backlash at the time from Clinton allies – and that the campaign even put out word that it planned to fire him if the Democratic presidential nominee won the 2016 election.

“All of a sudden I became a shill of the right,” McCullough recalled. “And I was told by members of Congress, ‘Be careful. You're losing your credibility. You need to be careful. There are people out to get you.’” As Election Day approached, McCullough said the threats went further, singling out him and another senior government investigator on the email case. “It was told in no uncertain terms, by a source directly from the campaign, that we would be the first two to be fired -- with [Clinton’s] administration. That that was definitely going to happen,” he said.

McCullough said he was just trying to do his job, which requires independence. "I was, in this context, a whistleblower. I was explaining to Congress -- I was doing exactly what they had expected me to do. Exactly what I promised them I would do during my confirmation hearing,” he said. “... This was a political matter, and all of a sudden I was the enemy."

🇩🇪 **German pro-refugee mayor attacked by man with knife**
<https://archive.is/9C1qz>

A knife attacker injured the mayor of a German town in an assault that appeared to be motivated by the municipal leader’s pro-refugee stance, officials said. The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, was “horrified by the knife attack”, her spokesman, Steffen Seibert, wrote on Twitter.

Andreas Hollstein, 57, the mayor of the western town of Altena, was attacked on Monday evening ***at a local kebab restaurant*** by a man who had loudly criticised his liberal refugee policy. The 56-year-old attacker, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, used a 30-centimetre-long (12in) knife, reported Spiegel Online. He was arrested at the scene.

The town of about 17,000 people was well known for taking in a larger share of asylum seekers than required amid the mass influx that has brought more than 1 million migrants and refugees to Germany since 2015.

🇷🇺 **Russia loses contact with Meteor satellite shortly after launch, says space agency**
<http://archive.is/8NbcH>

Russia has lost contact with a crucial satellite just hours after it was launched into space.

The rocket carrying the satellite was only the second launch from the Vostochny spaceport, a project that has been hailed as a major part of Russia’s plans for space exploration. As such, the problems look in danger of causing damage to morale in a country that sets a great deal of store by its historic achievements in space.

The satellite had also been an important part of the Russian space agency’s plans. The Meteor M2-1 weather satellite was launched with the hope of a five-year mission to monitor weather and the climate on behalf of the country’s meteorological agency.

Russian engineer Anton Shkaplerov said the microorganisms were not there at the launch of the ISS in 1998 and so likely 'flew from somewhere in space'.

The bacteria are now being taken back to Earth for further study after initial tests aboard the orbiting station showed they are harmless to humans.

Sayfullo Saipov, 29, entered his plea before US district judge Vernon Broderick in Manhattan. A court-appointed lawyer representing him, David Patton, declined to comment on the case after the hearing.

Saipov was arrested immediately after the 31 October attack in which he plowed a truck down a bike lane on Manhattan’s west side. He was hospitalized after he was shot by a police officer and arrested.

On 21 November, Saipov was charged in an indictment with eight counts of murder, 12 counts of attempted murder, one count of providing material support to Islamic State and one count of violence and destruction of a motor vehicle resulting in death.

The most serious charges against Saipov carry the death penalty, though it is not yet clear whether prosecutors will seek it.

Following the attack, Saipov told investigators he was inspired by watching Islamic State videos and began planning the attack a year earlier, according to a criminal complaint filed by prosecutors the day after the attack.

Uzbekistan-born Saipov also said “he felt good about what he had done” and asked for permission to display the flag of the militant group Islamic State in his hospital room, the complaint said.

🇰🇵 **North Korea: Latest missile launch was new type of ICBM capable of reaching entire US**
<https://archive.is/9LCbu>

North Korea has claimed its latest launch was a new type of intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong 15, which can hit all the US mainland.

The announcement was made on North Korean state TV on Wednesday, following the launch on Tuesday (earlier Wednesday Pyongyang time). The missile flew some 1,000 kilometers eastward, according to the Pentagon, before falling in the Sea of Japan without causing any damage. Pyongyang's statement also declared that the North now has a full-fledged nuclear force. "North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced that the country has realized the great historic cause of completing a state nuclear force," it said, as cited by Yonhap.

The missile launch prompted an immediate response from South Korea, which launched its own missile-firing test minutes later. The US, Japan and South Korea have called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting in response to the launch. The meeting is set to convene in New York later Wednesday.

Croatia's state-run TV service later said he died in hospital in the Netherlands, a statement which was later confirmed by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who offered condolences to his family.

🇺🇸 **Over Half Of Public Comments To FCC On Net Neutrality Appear Fake: Study**
<https://archive.is/3WbDq>

More than half of the 21.7 million public comments submitted to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission about net neutrality this year used temporary or duplicate email addresses and appeared to include false or misleading information, the Pew Research Center said on Wednesday.

From April 27 to Aug. 30 the public was able to submit comments to the FCC on the topic electronically. Of those, 57 percent used either duplicate email addresses or temporary email addresses, while many individual names appeared thousands of times in the submissions, Pew said.

For example, “Pat M” was listed on 5,910 submissions, and the email address **[email protected]** was used in 1,002 comments. TV host John Oliver supported keeping net neutrality earlier this on his HBO talk show.

The flood of purportedly fake comments has made it difficult to interpret the public’s true thinking on net neutrality and has even spurred New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to investigate for the last six months who posted the comments to the FCC website.

China's deep-rooted relationship with Zimbabwe, formed under recently deposed leader Robert Mugabe, has weakened in recent years. But under the watch of new President Emmerson Mnangagwa, seen as a friendlier face to Beijing's commercial interests, bilateral ties could strengthen.

In fact, many speculate that it was China's concerns over its investments that resulted inthe Nov. 14 coup that ousted Mugabe — a charge that Chinese President Xi Jinping'sadministration has denied. Regardless, close ties are widely expected under Mnangagwa, billed as a pro-business figure committed to increasing foreign inflows.

"Beijing has bankrolled Mugabe and his wife for years and will cozy up to Mwangagwa now," Pinak Chakravarty, distinguished fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, a New Delhi-based think tank, said in a Monday note.

<https://archive.is/KVU5B>

If you use medical marijuana, you must turn in your guns. That’s according to the Honolulu Police Department, which has been sending out letters to legal users of medicinal weed that they must forfeit their weapons, as reported by multiple news organizations.

The letters in Hawaii have been coming out at least since the beginning of this year, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported, including one dated Nov. 13 that told medical weed card holders they “have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to voluntarily surrender your firearms. Your medical marijuana use disqualifies you from ownership of firearms and ammunition,” read the letter signed by police chief Susan Ballard, according to the Star-Advertiser.

The Honolulu Police Department confirmed the news to Leafly, which also included an image of the letter in its story. It has been sent to about 30 registered medical cannabis users so far, according to the Star-Advertiser.

“Today we are informing approximately 150 people at ESPN that their jobs are being eliminated,” the network’s president, John Skipper, said in a memo. "The majority of the jobs eliminated are in studio production, digital content, and technology, and they generally reflect decisions to do less in certain instances and redirect resources.”

It has been a trying year for ESPN. Its flagship channel has lost about 1.4 million cable subscribers since last year, costing it tens of millions of dollars in revenue and continuing a trend that has seen the network lose 13 million subscribers over the past five years.

A former member of the Nigerian government has claimed his countrymen are being "captured, mutilated and cooked like kebabs" by slave traders in Libya. Ex-culture minister Femi Fani-Kayode lamented the plight of sub-Saharan Africans who arrive on the Mediterranean coast dreaming of a new life in Europe only to be forced into slavery.

He wrote: "75% of those sold into slavery in Libya who have their organs harvested, bodies mutilated and who are roasted like suya [an African kebab] are from southern Nigeria.

"Roasted alive! This is what Libyans do to sub-saharan Africans who are looking for a transit point to Europe. They sell them into slavery and either murder, mutilate, torture or work them to death."

The lawyer also criticised Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari for not doing enough to protect the victims, claiming that this was due to a tribal bias: "They are not Fulani herdsmen," he wrote.

Although it was not a legally constituted association, the police viewed it as an ideologically driven, unregistered association.

The court ruled that it was a violent group that exhorted followers and members to violent acts. The court said that the group was not entitled to freedom of speech protections as its actions violated the human rights of others.

The young Michigan man got a parking ticket in Royal Oak, and he was none too happy. He decided to pay his ticket — with pennies. Then, according to his attorney, he was choked by a guard and ended up taking a poo on himself before he passed out and was arrested.

After the incident, Sevy was charged with assaulting/obstructing a police officer and disturbing the peace. But his lawyer says Sevy was the real victim.

"I think the more profound and long-lasting injury is the psychological injuries he's suffering as a result of this. He's supposed to be in a safe place," he said. Sevy pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace and the assault/obstruction charge was dropped.

<https://archive.is/7VkVa>

Former two-term Republican state Sen. Ralph Shortey pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Timothy DeGiusti in exchange for federal prosecutors dropping three child pornography charges against him. Shortey resigned in March after he was arrested on state charges of engaging in child prostitution and transporting a minor for prostitution.

A federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment against Shortey in September. Among other things, the federal indictment alleged that Shortey produced child pornography in 2016 and 2017 and used his smartphone to send videos involving young boys and a young girl in 2013.

In addition, the indictment accused Shortey of child sex trafficking for allegedly soliciting a minor to engage in a commercial sex act on March 8 and 9 in 2017, the same incident that led to Shortey’s arrest and the filing of state charges against him. Those charges were dismissed following the federal indictment.

Shortey faces 10 years to life in prison and a $250,000 fine for child sex trafficking. The judge did not set a sentencing date.

White was standing outside the pub talking to another person when Crowchief walked up and yelled “I hate white people” before punching White in the face, the paper reported. After the assault, Crowchief left the scene, but White followed her and called police.

When authorities arrived and arrested Crowchief, she told them “the white man was out to get her,” the paper reported. At a recent court hearing, White said she's still baffled by the assault. “I still get angry when I think about it,” she said. “I don’t understand why this woman did this. I never did anything to her. Never even spoke to her.”

By the time of her sentencing, Crowchief had already spent more than six months in jail, according to the Calgary Herald. Van Harten agreed with Crowchief's defense attorney, Adriano Iovinelli, that she'd been behind bars long enough. The judge gave Crowchief 12 months probation "and ordered her to get psychological and psychiatric counselling, as well as counselling for substance abuse," the Herald reported.

<http://archive.is/qMDqo>

Russia is launching an investigation into whether Tsar Nicholas II and his family were killed by Jews as part of a 'ritual murder' in a move that has infuriated anti-Semitism campaigners. Father Tikhon Shevkunov, the Orthodox bishop heading an investigatory panel, is among hardcore members of the church who claim the final Russian emperor was murdered in a Jewish ritual.

Boruch Gorin, a spokesman for the Federation of Jewish Communities, Russia's largest Jewish group, expressed a strong concern about the claims, which he described as a 'throwback to the darkest ages'. Some Christians in medieval Europe believed Jews murdered Christians to use their blood for ritual purposes, something which historians say has no basis in Jewish religious law or historical fact.

A staunchly pro-Putin MP, **Natalia Poklonskaya**, 37, has also claimed the tsar's killing had 'evil' religious motives. 'They murdered the entire royal family, they killed the children in front of their father, they killed the mother in front of the children,' said the politician, formerly the chief prosecutor in Crimea. 'This is a crime, a frightening ritual murder.'

Wray stressed that while the FBI has about 1,000 open domestic terror investigations, none of them are focused on "ideology, opinion, or rhetoric," and instead are based on threats.

Ex-culture minister Femi Fani-Kayode lamented the plight of sub-Saharan Africans who arrive on the Mediterranean coast dreaming of a new life in Europe only to be forced into slavery.

It said at least 20,000 migrants are held by criminal gangs in detention centres in Libya.

Cambridge educated Fani-Kayode said that three quarters of the people detained by criminal gangs in the region had come from southern Nigeria.

__***If You Had Purchased $100 of Bitcoin in 2011***__
https://archive.is/SIF6o
Robert Arnott said it best, "In investing, what is comfortable is rarely profitable." The decentralized, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency system called bitcoin puts this claim to the test. The following is how you would have fared throughout the years if you had bought $100 worth of bitcoin back in 2011.
2011: Off to a Good Start
For purposes of this comparison over time, the bitcoin market value prices from the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index are used, and no fees or additional transactions are assumed, for the sake of simplicity. By buying $100 in bitcoins on Jan. 1, 2011, you would have benefited from a low market value of 30 cents per bitcoin and received a total of 333.33 bitcoins for your initial purchase.
Since bitcoin traded at 6 cents for most of 2010, you would have timed your initial purchase right. In this first year, you would have had your first taste of the cryptocurrency's high volatility. For a brief moment on June 8, 2011, bitcoin hit a high of $31.91, making the paper value of your investment a cool $10,636.56. By December 31, 2011, bitcoin was trading at $4.72, so you would have turned your $100 into $1,573.32

🇺🇸 **Michael Flynn, Trump's ex-national security adviser, pleads guilty to lying to the FBI; now cooperating with Russia probe**
<https://archive.is/uO8xp>

Michael Flynn, President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, pleaded guilty Friday to lying to the FBI about his postelection contacts with Russia's ambassador to the United States — and is now cooperating with a probe into links between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Flynn surrendered Friday morning before a hearing in Washington federal court, where he admitted guilty to a single criminal count of knowingly making materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statements to FBI agents.

That charge against the retired Army lieutenant general was lodged by prosecutors for special counsel Robert Mueller, who is probing alleged connections between the Trump presidential campaign with Russians.

Mueller's office in a court filing said "Flynn's false statements and omissions impeded and otherwise had a material impact on the FBI's ongoing investigation into the existence of any links or coordination between individuals associated with the Campaign and Russia's effort to interfere with the 2016 presidential election."

🇺🇸 **GOP Says It Has Enough Votes to Pass Senate Tax Bill**
<https://archive.is/1Lrzt>

Senate Republicans on Friday were confident that they had locked in enough votes to pass a sweeping tax bill later in the day. Wavering GOP senators offered their support and a holdout, worried it would add to the deficit, all but conceded defeat.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) said Friday morning, “We have the votes.” His comment came after Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas), the No. 2 Senate Republican, said the party had 50 votes to pass the legislation. Republicans control 52 seats compared with 48 for Democrats.

With no Democrats expected to support the bill and Vice President Mike Pence able to break a tie if needed, Senate Republicans have the majority needed to clear the measure through the Senate and open negotiations with the House to iron out differences.

🇺🇸 **Evergreen State’s student newspaper includes no-whites-allowed opinion section**
<https://archive.is/49jPq>

The student newspaper at Evergreen State College has a section in its opinion pages described as “for people of color by people of color.”

“This should be a place where we can be us without it being overshadowed by the dark cloud that is living under white supremacy and having to see things from a white perspective. This is why when we do cover these issues it will be in the context and from the perspective of POC and POC only,” according to the section’s editors as they reintroduced it to readers in September.

In one column, POC Talk points to the “scary national backlash the school faced last year”, referring to the events that rocked Evergreen after students accused Weinstein of racism because he criticized a planned “Day of Absence” in which white people were asked to stay off campus.

The protests on campus garnered national attention and amid the upheaval the college was shut for multiple days in early June because of threats it received. Since the unrest, Evergreen has said it will train students not to discriminate against white people.
