My upper won't fit into my lower. Pretty sure it's out of spec. Gonna have to send it back. Anyone ever encounter this? I've read like 300 different things I could try but not real sure

2020-04-26 15:41:06 UTC

Same caliber?

2020-04-26 15:41:25 UTC

@Scr0m yeah what brand etc.

2020-04-26 16:29:51 UTC

@Bard it's this https://outdoorsportsusa.com/AR-KITS/AR-15-SAFEGUARD-Carbine-Kit

Think its Eagle Lite inc that's the business that handles them. They seem like no brand lowers/uppers. Not entirely sure.

The lower is about 15.3~ cm from rear takedown to front takedown. The upper is 15.5 cm or so from the same spots. I might file down the upper to fit the take down but I've seen people hammer them in but I'd rather not lol

2020-04-26 16:32:28 UTC

I mean to be frank you purchased one of the cheapest AR upper and lower combos you possibly could, no surprise it has QC issues

2020-04-26 16:33:30 UTC

It isnt 299. If you go through and select options it goes from 490+

2020-04-26 16:33:44 UTC

About 487 I believe is what I paid for everything.

2020-04-26 16:33:52 UTC

that's still excessively inexpensive

2020-04-26 16:34:40 UTC

PSA has them for similar pricing.

2020-04-26 16:36:33 UTC

Anyone have any experience with alpha dog out of Arizona

2020-04-26 16:39:30 UTC

Ive ordered from them buy they're taking a really long time
A couple boxes of shotgun ammo and ordered a month ago
I know there's delays but should I contact them?

Remember that it's velocity not bullet composition that really defeats armor

2020-04-30 15:57:11 UTC

So, any idea if it's even possible to get tungsten or TS core bullets anymore? I'm pretty sure it's federally banned except for existing shit.

2020-04-30 15:57:23 UTC

And the energy alone would literally knock you unconscious if hit

2020-04-30 15:57:54 UTC

Right, mostly. But a component of that is still composition. 223 WSSM isn't going to penetrate a ceramic plate, I don't think it will at least.

2020-04-30 15:58:33 UTC

Well, it might be more mass going at speed, than composition going at speed to defeat armor.

2020-04-30 15:59:59 UTC

Really? I've seen a .50 cal rated ceramic plate eat an FMJ and the BFD looked definitely unpleasant, but it didn't look like it'd knock you out or kill you. Just rock your world for a second.

2020-04-30 16:01:48 UTC

It would definitely do more than rock your world for a second, it would knock you on your ass, crack all your ribs and incapacitate you

2020-04-30 16:02:36 UTC

and no I'm pretty certain that you can't get tungsten core bullets anymore except for random stragglers

2020-04-30 16:04:07 UTC

It might definitely crack a smaller bone, but I don't think it would instantly incapacitate an opponent who was dedicated.

2020-04-30 16:04:40 UTC

holy fuck that's some BFD

2020-04-30 16:05:57 UTC

I know for fabricating new projectiles, you could technically harden nails or something and drilling a hole in the tip of the bullets, but you're gonna have to melt the led to fit the projectile and I get the feeling the whole concept would be retardedly inaccurate if it doesn't just blow out your barrel.

2020-04-30 16:06:27 UTC

and also illegal unfortunately

2020-04-30 16:06:46 UTC

the closest you could come would be solid brass projectiles legally

2020-04-30 16:07:39 UTC

Actually, I saw the 300 win mag AP round that didn't penetrate do considerably deeper BFD than that .50, but then again, that video's clay was cold, so it might be way less worse than it's supposed to be.

2020-04-30 16:08:41 UTC

lmao, true, definitely illegal, but if you're shooting at someone wearing a ceramic plate, you've probably already dropped all regard for what's legal and what's not.

2020-04-30 16:08:59 UTC

in minecraft yes you are correct

2020-04-30 16:10:17 UTC

you have clearly done more research on this than me, but I am 100% positive that energy, however dispersed has to go somewhere, and taking a 50BMG to the chest from 75 yards would absolutely fuck you up

2020-04-30 16:10:24 UTC

You wouldn't die

2020-04-30 16:10:37 UTC

the legality of it is also why I'm looking at specifically centering around the M2AP projectiles. I can have it around and not break any laws.

2020-04-30 16:10:37 UTC

but you wouldn't be off to the races again any time soon

2020-04-30 16:10:58 UTC

Hmm... Yeah, true.

2020-04-30 16:11:39 UTC

Then fuckin do it, I would be fascinated to see testing around a 300 RUM or similar with M2AP

2020-04-30 16:11:48 UTC

My point with the .50 BMG video was that I don't think absorbing a .338 mag to the plate is going to incapacitate an opponent.

2020-04-30 16:12:08 UTC

I looked into this topic ages ago surrounding 300 norma mag

2020-04-30 16:12:21 UTC

Yeah... I can't find ANY videos online with anything other than .300 Win Mag m2ap.

2020-04-30 16:12:51 UTC

So I guess this is kind of uncharted territory in the civilian gun world.

2020-04-30 16:14:06 UTC

Between Norma, RUM, and WBY, which do you think is the least likely to get abandoned and become scare to source cases for?

2020-04-30 16:14:20 UTC

** scarce
