I’ve never seen any stats for tsarist agricultural yield, if you’re basing an argument on that then I want to see some data
Otherwise maybe you’re right maybe you’re not
I’ll certainly agree it was not technologically advanced, and I’m sure it suffered famine occasionally
What is this debate about?
Basically what happened in rural Ukraine under Stalinist rule
And whether there was a concerted effort by Stalin to kill off the rural population, or if it was a famine relief program
Mostly starvation
Why would Stalin want to kill off the rural population, he needs them for agriculture
I had a professor who said about it: “Stalin needed to urbanize quickly, and the best way to make people move to the cities is to make it impossible to live in the country”
Urbanization
@Deleted User Well sorry that I have to look through dozens of documents to find that one specific thing you want from me but this isn't exactly a planned debate. If you want me to debate about it like you do then I can just say "read [insert book name]" like you do and leave it at that but I know that doesn't get us anywhere with the debate
So do you want to debate or...
Do you want to engage in your identity politics?
@Boo I didn’t ask you to comment on famine rates in tsarist Russia, you did that
And yet you asked for the stats
If it’s crucial to your point, then you need to prove it. If it’s not, then just move on without it
Which I said I'll give it
A bit of patience please while I find it
Yeah, you made a claim that I have not heard so I asked for your source
Uh ok
I have a whole library to go through so it might take awhile
Like honestly not trying to be a dick here
If you want we can move forward assuming that’s true
I’m leaving, tag me when u respond plz
Thnx!
Right I have not found the specific source I was looking for that shined a light on how common famines were before the mid 50's but I believe it was a work by Mark Tauger that talked about the agricultural situation in the Eastern European region but I still found some documents that could help people understand the situation
Now before I go to sleep let me speak about the rest of the situation
There are several documents saying how the Soviets were called to take action due to the famine
Ok honestly, if you’re quoting marxists.org you’re off to a bad start
What do you think marxist.org is?
What is that document supposed to show?
It's where most documentation about the Communism and the USSR is published. It's not a news outlet
It's a website for documents
Ok, and what is that document trying to show?
A document showing a regional committee requesting to take repressive measures to stop the famine
Ok, how does that prove your point?
