@JesusHand That's a claim in psychology, give an argument for it.

Philosophically, it'd go along the lines of we do whatever is in our best interest or benefits us, hence why things that communism entails maybe in our interest.

2020-01-11 19:46:02 UTC

And what do you mean by smaller, are you arbitrarily drawing lines between numbers?

2020-01-11 19:46:13 UTC

What counts as small for you and why do you count it as small.

2020-01-11 19:51:36 UTC

@Throttles a community of maybe 100 people

2020-01-11 19:51:47 UTC

I’m saying a smaller group of people rather than millions

2020-01-11 19:51:59 UTC

Why are you picking that number? @JesusHand

2020-01-11 19:52:38 UTC

Just a guess

2020-01-11 19:52:44 UTC

The number is besides my point

2020-01-11 19:53:04 UTC

I’m saying the larger the population the harder it will be to have a functioning society with socialism

2020-01-11 19:58:56 UTC

@JesusHand You say it's because of humans being selfish in nature. Can you provide an argument for that?

Humans are cannibalistic in nature but we still resist it, we don't run off instincts. Furthermore, whatever is natural isn't moral.

And that goes for capitalism as well, in fact it goes for any possible economic system because we have scarce resources.

2020-01-11 20:06:00 UTC

Yes but capitalism is built around there being selfish people

2020-01-11 20:06:09 UTC

As the greed of one contributes to all of society

2020-01-11 20:06:38 UTC

If a person creates a billion dollar company they contribute to producing product, and employ thousands

2020-01-11 20:14:16 UTC

@JesusHand Lol no it doesn't. It's whatevers in one's own self interest as stated by Adam Smith in his wealth of nations. One's self interest cane helping others.

Also no it doesn't. Because a person can just automate machinery and leave workers out of jobs.

2020-01-11 20:14:16 UTC

GG @Throttles, you just advanced to level 11!

2020-01-11 20:14:26 UTC

Machinery is more efficient as well

2020-01-11 20:24:14 UTC

@Throttles Automation doesn’t make every lose their jobs

2020-01-11 20:24:29 UTC

It just changes the jobs people can work

2020-01-11 20:25:01 UTC

Those workers are maid redundant because of factor immobility, they lack the skillset of engineering.

2020-01-11 20:25:02 UTC
2020-01-11 20:25:08 UTC

Aren’t you a capitalist

2020-01-11 20:25:16 UTC

Yeah.

2020-01-11 20:25:17 UTC

I am.

2020-01-11 20:25:29 UTC

I'm not an austrian though

2020-01-11 20:25:32 UTC

I'm a Keynesian

2020-01-11 20:26:08 UTC

Socialism doesn’t work with corruption in it

2020-01-11 20:26:21 UTC

Or else it falls apart like in Venezuela

2020-01-11 20:27:26 UTC

Yeah nothing does work with corruption in it.

2020-01-11 20:54:15 UTC

@Throttles Socialism breeds corruption when the government controls resources and production

2020-01-11 20:59:07 UTC

But socialism is when the labourers own the means of production, are the government labourers? @JesusHand

2020-01-11 21:02:17 UTC

@Throttles Yes but the government is in control of that

2020-01-11 21:02:49 UTC

So it's not socialism because they still control it

2020-01-11 21:02:50 UTC
2020-01-11 21:03:33 UTC

There is still government leaders taht are in control of the industry

2020-01-11 21:07:44 UTC

So it's not socialism, because the labourers don't control the means of production.

2020-01-11 21:07:49 UTC

That just means it's a command economy.

2020-01-11 21:19:36 UTC

@Throttles There is still a leader of the country

2020-01-11 21:19:56 UTC

and government officials

2020-01-11 21:20:03 UTC

Okay, and?

2020-01-11 21:21:36 UTC

@Throttles Venezuala is failing from corruption of government officials
