Also the alternate society

In Fahrenheit 451, all books are seen as dangerous, and the 'Firemen' of the town are tasked with burning any homes if one is found.

GG @Puerto Rican Nelson, you just advanced to level 19!

2020-01-22 16:42:12 UTC

451 degrees Fahrenheit being the temperature that standard book paper burned.

2020-01-22 16:42:22 UTC

Ah

2020-01-22 16:42:37 UTC

No free speech

2020-01-22 16:43:16 UTC

Orwell's 1984 is more complex in the issues it explores, but Fahrenheit's singular message I found more compelling.

2020-01-22 16:43:58 UTC

Is 1984 not kinda old fashioned? Or is it still applicable on current times

2020-01-22 16:48:55 UTC

It does. Oceania was left a little bit mysterious to keep the setting timeless. You learn a lot, but it's far from enough.

Orwell's other books like Animal Farm are easier to understand

1984 is much more complex

Due to how little the book tells you about the world of 1984

2020-01-22 16:51:18 UTC

Even animal farm gets bastardized, sadly.

What's one example you've seen?

2020-01-22 16:55:53 UTC

Whats animal farm about?

2020-01-22 16:56:10 UTC

everyone and their mother using "Some animals are more equal than others" quote wrongly.

2020-01-22 16:56:18 UTC

Just became a platitude.

2020-01-22 16:56:50 UTC

@Stresbal political Charlotte's Web.

2020-01-23 02:32:07 UTC

Guys, Bernie Sanders plan is crazy.

2020-01-25 23:43:41 UTC

Dumping trillions into war when our people are sick and hungry is crazy

2020-01-25 23:44:18 UTC

Letting insurance companies and big pharma be in control of our healthcare and wellbeing is crazy

2020-01-25 23:45:12 UTC

Punishing people with crippling debt for getting educated is crazy

2020-01-25 23:45:34 UTC

Not paying people a living wage, leading them to work multiple jobs (and STILL struggling to make ends meet) is crazy

2020-01-25 23:46:21 UTC

Americans being forced to travel to other countries (often third world shitholes) to get medical care is crazy

2020-01-25 23:46:43 UTC

The war on drugs is crazy

2020-01-25 23:47:24 UTC

The income inequality is crazy

2020-01-25 23:47:56 UTC
2020-01-25 23:48:18 UTC

HUNGRY KIDS in America is crazy. We have kids who can't afford school lunches, in places where these are not subsidized. We have CHILDREN who are in DEBT to the school for their school lunches. For some of them, it's the only meal of their day.

2020-01-25 23:49:14 UTC

Retroactively enacting financial policies is not how it works lol, what a stupid argument

2020-01-25 23:50:02 UTC

Like, if a cigarette tax is suddenly lifted - everyone who paid it in the past should get reimbursed?

2020-01-25 23:50:04 UTC

Don't be stupid.

2020-01-25 23:50:43 UTC

Though I will say Warren's "of course not" is a bit callous

2020-01-25 23:50:50 UTC

I doubt Bernie would answer the question in the same way

2020-01-25 23:51:20 UTC

I can sympathize with that man. It's like buying a game on Steam and then it goes on sale a week later

2020-01-26 00:00:22 UTC

@Dr.Cosby Hungry kids already get food in America. In fact, they eat more expensive food then I do most of the time.

It is stupid that insurance and pharmacies take over healthcare, but do you really think Bernie’s plan will stop that?

Income inequality is not necessarily stupid. As long as companies are not discriminating people because of skin or gender (which would be stupid for companies)

2020-01-26 00:01:25 UTC

Complete bullshit, yes, and yes it is
