"What leftism does to young women" Greta at 16 versus 26 if she's fat
Who exactly is "bringing attention" to it though? Like, she's popular because... she's popular. Her weird face and ability to trigger the hell out of right wingers and conspiracy theorists probably did the trick
later part is only reason
just like the florida shooting kid
he only got popular because the 'facts dont care about your feelings' crowd got triggered
Doesn't really matter, news stations should have reported more on ocean clean ups progress, as there's not much information to gain from Greta thurnburg because it is just the same rhetoric about climate change (note the difference between rhetoric and information on the subject).
do you believe in thermodynamics?
Yes and that is irrelevant in this conversation
rhetoric versus information, says you sir
there is no way around it
So you believe the apocalyptic proclamations of the earth will end in 12 years along with climate change being caused by "racism" and "patriarchy" is *not* rhetoric?
It's not that the earth will END in 12 years, it's that we might pass a point of no return and won' tbe able to adjust downward because of rate of entropy reduction
How do you justify this as being information that's not simply being pushed to inflame the issue rather than actually create a discussion?
racism and patriarchy are definitely part of the rational behind 'ignoring' it, for sure
part of it is a fear of de-tuning the west, and not necessarily vis-a-vis 'brown countries' either
the police state needs gas
scientists have been trying to 'create discussion' since i've been alive
some people are either totally obstinate or they are really dumb and cannot comprehend what the laws of thermodynamics mean in a mostly 'one way' system like earth
It's beyond doubt that some groups are DEFINITELY fighting reality on it, for selfish goals
the original "ok, boomer"
Cobra, I agree that there are other people actually "doing stuff" that deserve lots of attention. I understand not liking that this rich girl travels around not really getting her hands dirty and being seen as some heroic figure. But she's polarizing and people actually pay attention to her. If others could get as much attention, the media would be focusing on them
They don't a fuck about 'she's taking attention away from other, more deserving people'
I think the situation itself is dumb, but as they say - don't hate the player, hate the game
Niggger gay
the call came down from on high to hate Greta, and it filtered down to the foot soldiers who don't know anything anything
except they had runaway triggering so now it went too far and she's here to stay for a while
I'm being kind to Cobra, yes - the majority of Greta haters obviously don't give a shit about the environment/climate lol
Just like global warming
Being triggered over Greta is basically a model of runaway greenhouse effect
Past the point of phase shift
Unrelated but interesting thesis. I trade tesla all the time, no real beef or love for Elon:

That old school Electric Car Conspiracy was pretty crazy too, poor Roger Rabbit
kind of makes you laugh when you see shit like "liberals have taken over, they are going to institute communism!" when we have been dealing with these 'big business' conspiracies, real ones, for 2-3 centuries now
```Stanford Ovshinsky, inventor of this nickel-metal-hydride battery died in 2012 at the age of 89 still deeply embittered by what General Motors and Texaco, later acquired by Chevron, had done to his baby. It’s greatest potential use and the use Ovshinsky specifically developed it for was never realized. They simply bought it and shelved it.
```
That's assuming that the people who have a problem with the "every single societal vice causes climate change" rhetoric are all just horrible racist, sexist people (and a pretty stupid over generalization at that, though there are of course those who fit this description). People who do understand that we have an impact on the environment, and are not racist or sexist, do not like this focus on rhetoric because *it does not help the issue.* The concern is that these alarmist political voices that are being showcased over more moderate ones who have made actual contributions to the issues will not cause skeptics on the issue to actually listen, and will only further the divide between both sides on this and progress on potentially fixing or easing the problem will be stifled. When you chastize people for simply living their own way while interjecting undeniably political views like "patriarchy causes climate change" will, believe it or not, drive people away regardless of whether or not the science regarding climate change is legitimate. How you don't understand that this fight 'rhetoric with rhetoric' tactic is backfiring is beyond me, the first step to counter acting climate change is persuading those who are skeptical so that you have more support on the problem, not driving them farther away and creating more conflict. It's so fucking stupid, things like PR are things for a reason.
Also yeah Cosby, I do hate the game as the msm is largely to blame here; the sensationalist, polarizing practises that outlets tend to go for isn't doing any favors for this issue. Once again, I never once said I hated Greta Thurnburg, far from that, just that she is absolutely worthy of criticism.
God writing on mobile is a chore
``` do not like this focus on rhetoric because it does not help the issue. ``` Well those people need to realize the usual pearl clutching ain't working
It's not like scientists haven't been saying this for decades
The model you are writing about there is OFTEN used to suppress dissent, hence the very phrase "pearl clutching", especially when aimed at establishment style neolibs
The alarmism has been around for decades as well
