Big enough to be considered a class
For simplicity we will call them the lower-middle and middle-upper
We will also nickname them as Dream Chaser and Small Business Owners
Because thats what they usually are
Now this is important because the lower-middle has always been an emerging and disappearing class.
hence the Dream Chaser
These are the people that pursue the American Dream and their optimism to pursue it.
And they are essentially the voter base of every national election.
Middle Class simply don't care about healthcare
because one: their job can give it to them or two: they can afford it
Now these lower-middle people however they can't.
They're not poor enough that the government will subsidize for a majority of their healthcare
nor are they wealthy enough to buy it on their own
So both parties intend to enfranchise these people.
Ever since labor unions have decreased in strength and power, the lower-middle has been fucked from everywhere
from the government, from their jobs, and from society.
For government, they simply don't qualify for programs that should make them qualified.
For jobs, they feel their work are underappreciated and underrepresented (hence why labor unions even start up)
For society, where they're expected to suddenly "git gud" and "stop being poor"
GG @Techpriest, you just advanced to level 20!
Now both parties actually try to solve this problem.
Democrats propose for government problem: let's just raise the qualifications and increase the programs' funding!
Republicans however prefer a more federalism approach where "let's just give the states a block sum grant of money and then have the states decide what qualify"
Both have varying success rates ofc.
For jobs, Democrats want to increase the minimum wage while Republicans want to cut taxes.
For society however, this is where the parties are currently fighting over.
Democrats want you to stop being poor and getting good by granting affirmative actions and regulating immoral business practices.
Republicans however believe that how the fuck can people get good and stop being poor because of regulation and reverse racism?
I'll give one good example for instance in California.
The Housing Market is easily imagined for the 5 classes.
Upper - (can afford multiple and may even rent out)
Middle-Upper - (owns a house and almost done paying it off)
Middle - (paying the house on mortgage)
Lower-Middle - (high-risk house-buyer)
Lower - (rent only)
Now for the upper class, the housing market in California is particularly lovely.
House prices are going up, thus rent prices can go up. All this money upper class people are making
easy
The middle-upper and middle enjoy this because they probably bought a house already and just paying it off.
However, the lower-middle and lower are fucked in the ass
They can't afford to buy a house given a shit house is worth a mansion in Texas and rent prices are ridiculously high.
So what does the majority Democrat party do?
On government side, they're helping the lower class by providing subsidized housing where the government will pay almost $2k/month for you to live there and be affordable for you. (the lower-middle however... some do not qualify) OR they'll sponsor a construction firm to construct low-income apartment complexes.
On jobs, no one is actually building any houses due to regulations made by Democrats years ago. You will need permits to "build on this area" which can take decades to do so and increases the housing cost.
So currently democrats are doing nothing about the job situation.
They're still imposing more ridiculous regulations to make house-building impossible.
On society however is very interesting.
