it wasnt a rural unindustrialised shithole

2020-01-03 19:15:48 UTC

It was before

2020-01-03 19:15:51 UTC

this was mianly due to the reforms of sergei witte and pyotr stolipyn

2020-01-03 19:15:53 UTC

it was under the uSSR

2020-01-03 19:15:54 UTC

But not once Stalin came to rule

2020-01-03 19:15:56 UTC

due to industry being destroyed

2020-01-03 19:16:00 UTC

under the civil war

2020-01-03 19:16:06 UTC

it still had the 5th largest industrial base

2020-01-03 19:16:06 UTC

You do realize Russia couldn't produce enough weapons for all it's armed forces in WW1

2020-01-03 19:16:07 UTC

pre ww1

2020-01-03 19:16:10 UTC

Well in terms of what happened in the Middle East President Trump sent a message: the days of appeasement are over. Target Americans, and you will be swiftly brought to justice.

2020-01-03 19:17:14 UTC

omg ww1

2020-01-03 19:17:15 UTC

@Unity.Nat dude, they had enough rifles. Just not enough ammunition. Remember, the industrialization was still ongoing (until probably the 1920s). The industrialization was unfocused on military and more on civilian things. However by 1916 a lot of logistical problems were still fixed. Plus the poor state of rails (which germans predicted would be fixed by 1917) helped with the problems

2020-01-03 19:17:24 UTC

Civil war happend AFTER ww1

2020-01-03 19:17:26 UTC

Or rather

2020-01-03 19:17:33 UTC

Somewhere in ‘17

2020-01-03 19:17:40 UTC

well it didnt really kick off until 1918

2020-01-03 19:17:48 UTC

Revolution happened in 17

2020-01-03 19:17:51 UTC

yeah

2020-01-03 19:17:56 UTC

Like I said

2020-01-03 19:18:18 UTC

in less than 15 years stalin basically completly industrialized the USSR

2020-01-03 19:18:22 UTC

like 2 and a half 5 year plans

2020-01-03 19:18:25 UTC

Yes

2020-01-03 19:18:29 UTC

Thats VERY fast

2020-01-03 19:18:34 UTC

Wouldn’t call that a shithole

2020-01-03 19:18:39 UTC

Just in time for roll out the T-34s

2020-01-03 19:19:26 UTC

Russia before ww1 was bad.

2020-01-03 19:19:27 UTC

btw by 1914 40% of russian workers were employed in industry, which practically didnt exist (except for a few factories) before the 1880s

2020-01-03 19:19:39 UTC

it was booming economically but still behind

2020-01-03 19:19:47 UTC

mainly due to two great ministerw

2020-01-03 19:19:51 UTC

sergei witte and pyotr stolipyn

2020-01-03 19:20:00 UTC

Over the summer I read a lot of what Stalin wrote, especially regarding the Kulaks, etc

2020-01-03 19:20:23 UTC

A booming economy yet the people wanted to overthrow the tzar. Makes sense

2020-01-03 19:20:23 UTC

Kulaks deserved worse

2020-01-03 19:20:24 UTC

Easy to see how he was popular, at least among certain people

2020-01-03 19:20:37 UTC

@Unity.Nat because the tsar was unpopular, weak willed, and lost wars

2020-01-03 19:20:46 UTC

and autocratic

2020-01-03 19:20:48 UTC

plus the economy boombed, the peoples wages didnt icnrease

2020-01-03 19:20:50 UTC

and they remained poor

2020-01-03 19:20:58 UTC

which his own inner circle hated as well

2020-01-03 19:21:01 UTC

iirc
