Like the post above mentioned about water myths, plastics rated 1, 2 and 4, so if u have a 1-2 liter soda bottle, fill it up and put it in the closet, if that takes up too much space, maybe get something like a life straw, sawyer filter or any decent hand style or pump that you can backwash to clean. The smallest ones are pretty good like the Sawyer mini (pic) can filter around 100,000 gallons supposedly
I've used the same sawyer filter for almost 5 years now. I haven't gotten the hershey squirts from lake/river water yet, so I'll keep going until I can report when it quits being effective.
what can they filter tho
can they filter shit like bacteria or just dirt particles
he said river water which is typically chock full of a nice combo of shit
eh
true
(Do not clean the filters with your bare hands, the outside of the ceramic filters can have concentrated levels of contaminants after extended use including heavy metals, organic compounds and more)
quick question: potatoe growing is a easy as going to my local food market, buy some potatoes that still have some roots (tubers) attached to them and putting them in the dirt? (watering etc. but thats a no brainer)
That's pretty damn close. Let the potatoes sprout first. You can even cut a potato up and plant each sprout individually, thereby turning one potato into 5 plants
The potato itself is a tuber
would it be possible to replicate the moisture farms in starwars? basically a bigger version of the solar still
Wranglerstar is bae❤️
Just a note on Sawyer filters and others like them (not ceramic ones), they are adapted from kidney dialysis filters. They sell different micron levels. Basically as they get used, the filter clogs up and slows down. You just backwash them with filtered water and it flushes them out and good to go again. That's how they have the 100k gallon rating.

city slicker
did someone mention there was a place you could buy near expiration date MREs in bulk for a decent price?
OH searched, @UncleDrMrBaby you said locally, what kind of place is it?
do they have a website maybe
They do not have a website. It’s like a hardware store and a milsurp store had an abortion.
interesting, i think there's a milsurp store a couple towns away, but ill check around for something closer
thanks
if u could only grow potatoes, would you grow normal potatoes or sweet potatoes? or which would u give priority to?
testing an overnight cold soak
@Lizard regular potatoes; neutral flavor means more versatility, and I think they're more calorically dense
Is that rice?
yes
I have a month worth of rice but know nothing about overnight soaks
Let me know how it turns out
It's not my Plan A
it was "al dente" sort of... think I didn't add enough water
this is just a backup for if I lose my ability to cook/boil water
Right
Ight just got back from Walmart
This is the haul
