The amount of carbon-14 atoms is looked at because they decay over time. How much they have decayed and how many are left is what is used. I’m not sure if thats determined proportionally to other samples or carbon-12 atoms

I don't really feel like anyone needs to defend the logic of the Trinity since most Christians I've met tend to explain that it is beyond understanding anyway

Which if there is such a superior being, it would make sense we wouldn't have the same level of understanding

Also the way that I learned to explain it having attended a Christian school was that the Trinity is like an apple

so the core is God, the actual fruit substance is Jesus, and then the Holy Spirit is the skin

All different beings but still part of the same original being
