Caught in the act, pal.

2019-11-26 17:00:57 UTC

Well, people do often think they're smarter than they actually are.

2019-11-26 17:01:33 UTC

But it definitely is more accentuated with people who've been elated to new heights by Dr. Pete.

2019-11-26 17:01:36 UTC

At least in my experience.

2019-11-26 17:02:18 UTC

Lower their competence; Raise their confidence.
Check mate.

2019-11-26 17:20:04 UTC

Peterson is a druggie with nothing valuable to say. Those with any sense can easily see through his charade. He attracts the weak, absolutist types of people.

2019-11-26 17:20:53 UTC

So, I assume you've read "Maps of Meaning" and "12 rules for life", Pelthie?

2019-11-26 17:21:00 UTC

Can you walk me through them?

2019-11-26 17:21:42 UTC

His life is a failure.

2019-11-26 17:21:48 UTC

As is yours

2019-11-26 17:21:54 UTC

Prove it.

2019-11-26 17:22:10 UTC

Except you can't, because you haven't read either.

2019-11-26 17:27:15 UTC

I've read them both. I would say he is a charlatan comfortably. I would not call him a failure

2019-11-26 17:28:16 UTC

It's the domain in particular. If you agree with his psychological basis(Jungian, etc), then his work there is good. For me it's on the philosophy and his pontifications against 'cultural marxists', 'post modernists' and the like

2019-11-26 17:28:25 UTC

he clearly has NOT read the post modernists he often brings up

2019-11-26 17:29:08 UTC

cultural marxism is itself an oxymoron. i have some odd history with one of the originators of the term, and it's always struck me odd he went down that right(bill lind)

2019-11-26 17:29:43 UTC

You have a history with William Lind?

2019-11-26 17:29:46 UTC

Maps of Meaning, the book, could almost be scene AS a post modernist work itself, as re some of petersons many lectures where he argues about the nature of trust etc

2019-11-26 17:30:19 UTC

Back in the early days of 4th generation warfare theory popularization, well. Not early from HIS pov, but mine, 99-2000

2019-11-26 17:30:29 UTC

and forward until he got more on the culture train

2019-11-26 17:32:15 UTC

(Us version of culture war, his strategy ideas were always soak in cultural issues, but more of military culture for training officers, why the east fights differently than the west, etc)

2019-11-26 17:32:52 UTC

i took his favorite as my own idol, Scharnhorst

2019-11-26 17:33:49 UTC

What was your history with the guy then?

2019-11-26 17:34:40 UTC

I encountered him and his ideas when he was lecturing to young officers, i really got into it

2019-11-26 17:38:15 UTC

Oddly enough, If he had read more marx, his own 4gw ideas would have grown some, because marx was one of the early 'complex system' analysts in intellectual history, and much of what maneuver warfare theory is is essentially re-organizing from an ordered system to a complex one

2019-11-26 21:05:23 UTC

Same. I disagree with Peterson's commentaries on philosophy.
