Haha
do you think that sex is seperate or completely disconnected from sex
gender *roles* are a social construct; *gender* is heavily influenced by biology. *sex* is determined by our genetics - XX, XY, genetic sequences, etc. accompanied by primary and secondary sex characteristics (bobs, peen, vagene, body shape, bone density) - *gender* is determined by how our body reacts to the presence or absence of certain levels of hormones. When I was born, I was born male. I will always be a biological male (this is my *sex*). My *gender* as I grew up turned out to be male as I learned what I like and what I don't like. However, as puberty set in and dysphoria followed, I felt the need to change my *gender* to match my desired sex.
Yes but you can't actually change it
a gender role says that girls must play with dolls - that is a social construct because society enforced an arbitrary rule with no basis in biology
A gender role implies your role in the family unit, aka mother or father
so do you think that sex change surgery
is true sex change
No that's what gender roles are for
The purpose of them
you seem to fundamentally misunderstand what a gender role is - it's any arbitrary rule set by society upon gender expression. i.e. *women must be mothers*
gender
either of the two sexes (male and female), especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones. The term is also used more broadly to denote a range of identities that do not correspond to established ideas of male and female:
I've transitioned too, snowflake, i know what you think it is
role in a family unit is not the same as a gender role - a gender role fundamentally and discretely refers to the arbitrary rules
You can't impose your thoughts onto reality of our doesn't actually imply
if you're going to call me a snowflake, you can leave
ad hominem attacks aren't welcome, read the rules
clearly i can and i should because you don't understand what a gender role is
no
the problem is
Gender roles are for the sex roles which is man and woman; father and mother. Its what the sexes make them
we fundamentally disagree
gen·der role
noun
the role or behavior learned by a person as appropriate to their gender, determined by the prevailing cultural norms.
"the emphasis on maintaining traditional gender roles"
your understanding of gender
differs to mine
so we cant agree
or come to any resoultion
you're using the sociological definition of gender @FoundALegalDwarf
GG @alexandra, you just advanced to level 2!
not the medical definition
which in my mind
Thats the acedemic/metaphysical understanding, literally not applicable to reality
is the correct definition
If gender rolea are only a social construst, than why do you feel the need to transition in the role doesnt really exist?
there's no "correct" definition yet - i'm in the camp that gender dysphoria and being trans is a medical condition
yeah
