on both sides

2019-12-28 06:39:11 UTC

every day

2019-12-28 06:39:13 UTC

nah it's not always that cynical, he is a new level

2019-12-28 06:39:20 UTC

it is that cynical

2019-12-28 06:39:25 UTC

it's not

2019-12-28 06:39:31 UTC

To absolutely refuse to vote on any judges that a president appoints destroys the fabric of democracy

2019-12-28 06:39:44 UTC

You had people like McCain, etc, who definitely were not on this level

2019-12-28 06:39:48 UTC

that was pretty ballsy, wasn't it

2019-12-28 06:40:25 UTC

ballsy is not to be admired if it is going to hurt the legitimacy of the government

2019-12-28 06:40:33 UTC

McCain was just Uniparty scum

2019-12-28 06:40:47 UTC

That whole thought process is an ego trip that has no civic virtue

2019-12-28 06:41:26 UTC

I wasn' ta McCain fan, but I don't doubt his patriotism, to a point

2019-12-28 06:41:41 UTC

but if he believes leftist judges are activist judges that won't uphold the Constitution, then he has a duty to do what he's doing

2019-12-28 06:41:43 UTC

It' slike goign from field grade to flag rank, you are supposed to leave your 'community' behind

2019-12-28 06:42:05 UTC

They dont' have to be leftist, they can be REPUBLICANS. they are not all hacks

2019-12-28 06:42:09 UTC

@The Meme Lord we aren’t a democracy we are a republic

2019-12-28 06:42:26 UTC

when you say hacks, what do you mean exactly?

2019-12-28 06:43:06 UTC

There is a quasi-gov board that reviews appointments, it is very good. it rarely issues raw 'thumbs down', it has had many recently that got appointed

2019-12-28 06:43:26 UTC

I forget the name of it, but you will see it quoted often regarding Mitch and the judges

2019-12-28 06:44:11 UTC

I was also told the FISA court was good and a standard bearer of truth and justice though

2019-12-28 06:44:12 UTC

@CoNtRoLeRbOt We are a representative Democracy and also technically a republic because the definition of a republic is a government where officals are elected (so democracy) but we can argue about definitions but McConnel is destroying America’s institutions

2019-12-28 06:44:36 UTC

but even aside from the qualitative issues, you have the quantitative issues or just refusing to consider so many appointments during the previous administration

2019-12-28 06:45:35 UTC

The issue is especially scary with a judiciary because it's one of the main things that makes America different: an independent judiciary

2019-12-28 06:47:44 UTC

ABA has 10 NQs on their view of ones appointed this congress

2019-12-28 06:49:29 UTC

I dunno, there are too many activists on the left that want to weaken the Constitution any chance they get. I think the days of "fair and balanced" are over.

2019-12-28 06:49:57 UTC

It's only over because you feel that way and think 'revenge' is necessary on the left

2019-12-28 06:50:12 UTC

Let's say your first clause is accurate, why keep it going?

2019-12-28 06:50:36 UTC

it's not revenge

2019-12-28 06:50:38 UTC

The solution to 'activist judges' is not more 'activist judges'

2019-12-28 06:51:02 UTC

Why join the fight to make things worse?

2019-12-28 06:51:05 UTC

well, you might be right that the judges he's appointing are truly activist, I can't say

2019-12-28 06:51:16 UTC

if you're right about that, then you're right about the next thing you said

2019-12-28 06:54:39 UTC

ABA has 18 NQs on their last congress review

2019-12-28 06:57:46 UTC

```The Week news magazine has named Senate Majority Leader Moscow Mitch McConnell the decade’s most consequential politician, over Barack Obama, the nation’s first African American president, and Donald Trump, the nation’s most problematic president ever. “McConnell was smashing norms and precedents in the Senate even before Trump arrived in Washington, D.C. In the case of Trump’s major accomplishments—cutting taxes and transforming the American judiciary—McConnell probably deserves the lion’s share of the credit,” writes Joel Mathis.```
2019-12-28 06:58:44 UTC
Loading up our judicial branch with a bunch of often-unqualified party-first bootlickers is probably one of the worst things about Trump's presidency
2019-12-28 06:58:52 UTC
that's for the guy who thinks McConnell isn't relevent
2019-12-28 06:59:13 UTC
It's turtles all the way down, man...
2019-12-28 06:59:32 UTC
McConnell is too important, I don't understand how a...person...like that, gets into such a powerful position
2019-12-28 06:59:52 UTC
In many ways I think he's got more power than the president - especially if you consider how long his "term" is
2019-12-28 06:59:53 UTC
Look at their previous gov and what he did on the way out, that's how lol
2019-12-28 07:00:45 UTC
I'm too young to follow politics much further back than Clinton (at least in that detail)
