Black lives do matter, but when I think of that title, it gives me the vibe that *only* black lives matter. I like: all lives matter. All minorities shouldn't be minorities, there should be no minority/majority. Everyone should be given the same chances no matter their economic status, race, ethnicity, or sexuality.
At the same time I am very white and have not experienced discrimination first hand, I've only heard of people being discriminated against because of their color. Which is ridiculous, but I don't know if that's common
I'm not very educated on many race issues, so could some people educate me?
i agree kinda
i really dont like the BLM movement personally
but thats moreso because im an individualist so i think the individual identity is more important that the group racial identity
dont like group identities
so id be happier with an egalitarian movement that didnt focus on one single race
it shouldn't be just black, what about every other minority? Every one should be given the same opportunities despite their skin tone
Yes
It should be everyone has a chance
yeah, equality of opportunity
Yes
The amount of melanin the skin means nothing to me. Racial and identarian politics are totally nonsensical
Agreed, but they were oppressed for their skin tone for so long
I guess it really matters to them
Yeah but its so utterly pointless to dwell on, if people focused less on things like fucking "reparations" and more on what civil rights was actually about, they'd get so much more accomplished
because one is a noble and justified cause and the other is just absurdity
@Soup Can Sam sometimes you think you know a guy
racial guilt is bad
i never owned a slave
<:shrugko:520245434346635264>
so im not responsible
Focus on fixing poverty regardless of race, focus on fixing real social issues, focusing on educating against discrimination, focus on dealing with legitimate hatred
What's fixing hatred
Or dealing with it
Daryl Davis is a good example of that lmao
That fat blac guy?
Idk I don't know what he does
He's a musician that befriended the imperial wizard of the ku klux klan and over time made him essentially dissolve the Klan simply by engaging with, and showing him that Black people aren't genetically inferior
Open dialogues are the single most important things to solving this issue
OH HIM
I KNOW HIM
he did a ted talk didnt he
I don't think that works on most people
He did a ted talk and a lot of podcasts
It works a hell of a lot better than ignoring them and preaching to choirs
And not because people are ignorant or anything but because it's not actually persuasive
Racial supremacy is an idea just like anything else and the best way to counter ideas is to argue against them
