@Soup Can Sam sometimes you think you know a guy
Huh I guess I'm not as much of an esp as I thought
racial guilt is bad
i never owned a slave
<:shrugko:520245434346635264>
so im not responsible
Focus on fixing poverty regardless of race, focus on fixing real social issues, focusing on educating against discrimination, focus on dealing with legitimate hatred
What's fixing hatred
Or dealing with it
Daryl Davis is a good example of that lmao
That fat blac guy?
Idk I don't know what he does
He's a musician that befriended the imperial wizard of the ku klux klan and over time made him essentially dissolve the Klan simply by engaging with, and showing him that Black people aren't genetically inferior
Open dialogues are the single most important things to solving this issue
OH HIM
I KNOW HIM
he did a ted talk didnt he
I don't think that works on most people
He did a ted talk and a lot of podcasts
It works a hell of a lot better than ignoring them and preaching to choirs
Racial supremacy is an idea just like anything else and the best way to counter ideas is to argue against them
If I care about my mom you cannot give me a single argument to change me, but you can point out things she may have done to wrong me and perhaps change my opinion
Its the perfect time to point out the literal absurdity of race based politics
What does absurd mean
Ridiculous, not based in legitimate information or theory
The idea of race having a significant impact on anything other than minor physiology and skin melanin is factually false
Agreed
You were born with whatever skin tone you have, and it shouldn't be something to hold someone accountable on
My ancestors might have been slave owners
My ancestors may have been slaves themselves
I'm particularly Irish
So..
But we never talk about that
I mean, from a certain perspective, at one point all of ireland was slave to the crown
Yeah people kinda forget that for a long time it wasn't about skin color it was about being a dirty foreigner
Yeah, true. You see, I don't know much about the Irish slaves because guess what? They don't teach that in schools anymore
Yeah, but eventually it turned into skin color
People weren't given the same opportunities because of their race
Because they weren't seen as people
Even after slavery was abolished
