$0 minimum wage?

2019-07-25 11:25:14 UTC

depends on what you define "living" as

2019-07-25 11:25:25 UTC

Tell me though, I'm curious how extreme you are about this

2019-07-25 11:25:28 UTC

i would be happy with no minimum wage

2019-07-25 11:25:32 UTC

Okay

2019-07-25 11:26:03 UTC

Now, THAT has been proven to be detrimental and leads to slave-like conditions for workers

2019-07-25 11:26:14 UTC

how do you suppose that comes about

2019-07-25 11:26:17 UTC

Perhaps there are other systems you'd have in place to offset that?

2019-07-25 11:26:26 UTC

the business keeps lowering the wages ?

2019-07-25 11:26:45 UTC

what incentive would they have if nobody takes that job

2019-07-25 11:27:32 UTC

If NOTHING ELSE there are people who are stupid (or mentally ill), or immigrants without language skills and serious insecurities, or etc, that can be taken advantage of

2019-07-25 11:27:47 UTC

so for example if they decide to pay you $2 dollars an hour and it costs you more to live then that

2019-07-25 11:27:53 UTC

who would be taking that job?

2019-07-25 11:27:57 UTC

Somebody will probably take the job - that's what ends up happening man

2019-07-25 11:28:01 UTC

right

2019-07-25 11:28:11 UTC

so the problem is too many illegals

2019-07-25 11:28:15 UTC

It's exploitation

2019-07-25 11:28:24 UTC

if someone is willing to work for $2

2019-07-25 11:28:28 UTC

you have a labour issue

2019-07-25 11:29:01 UTC

the balance should be struck where there is nobody willing to work for $2

2019-07-25 11:29:09 UTC

in my ideal system <:xd:562563637781463046>

2019-07-25 11:29:15 UTC

People get screwed by their employers all the time. I had an ex who worked as a waitress and her "minimum wage" was even lower (wtf?) - and her boss took her tips

2019-07-25 11:29:27 UTC

Without government regulation, this stuff happens time and time again

2019-07-25 11:29:46 UTC

Minimum wage is just ONE check-and-balance to keep things from being too fucked up

2019-07-25 11:30:01 UTC

Why didn't she quit, right?

2019-07-25 11:30:09 UTC

She was a middle-class white American girl

2019-07-25 11:30:18 UTC

Why not just find another job?

2019-07-25 11:30:27 UTC

Maybe she was just stupid!

2019-07-25 11:30:53 UTC

But she worked there for almost a year. Even when living with her parents and being able to find somewhere else.

2019-07-25 11:31:10 UTC

🤔

2019-07-25 11:31:18 UTC

I see what you are saying

2019-07-25 11:31:27 UTC

People get bent over the barrel man

2019-07-25 11:31:33 UTC

If it’s to protect people then I am for it

2019-07-25 11:31:34 UTC

Even WITH "good" minimum wage

2019-07-25 11:31:55 UTC

I also see what you are saying

2019-07-25 11:32:09 UTC

And again, I am very pro free market working things out

2019-07-25 11:32:22 UTC

To me, it makes perfect sense that it would sort itself out

2019-07-25 11:32:42 UTC

But that's in a perfect situation where everyone is intelligent and able to switch jobs willy nilly, you know?

2019-07-25 11:32:52 UTC

Correct yes

2019-07-25 11:33:37 UTC

The problem comes when minimum wage tries to be a living wage

2019-07-25 11:34:36 UTC

Like, a simple wrench to throw in those gears is how people need money NOW to pay for stuff. And they desire stability and stuff from their job. They get hired at a suboptimal rate, they are very likely to stay there, even if it's shitty
