There are instances where elements of socialism Works and fails, and there are instances where are elements of capitalism work and fail.

Venezuela's mixed economy has failed as a result of government intervention. Sure, 70% of the industries in the private sector. But it is dead last in the world for property rights.

In other words, the government allows you to own property under certain circumstances, instead of assuming that as a human you have the right to own property regardless of what the government would like like most successful economies.

2019-07-29 17:05:15 UTC

Remember, it was the government that made the decision to tie Social Services to a volatile industry.

>But it is dead last in the world for property rights.

no? you know cuba still exists. you know in china you cant actually own a home? that feel when you gotta use hyperbole to buttress your belief

2019-07-30 00:11:57 UTC

>Venezuela's mixed economy has failed as a result of government intervention.

this is true, but that doesnt make it socialist

2019-07-30 00:12:31 UTC

if people focussed on policies, rather than ideologies, they would *actually* be able explain what went wrong in Venezuela

2019-07-30 00:14:33 UTC

does socialism normatively claim that nations should tie their welfare system to the price of oil? no. so then, why criticise venezuela as a "socialist failure"? its basically a form of mccarthyism

2019-07-30 08:02:19 UTC

@Green Syndicalism look at nazi germany... that's probably one of the only examples of socialism that works for the benefit of the nation.

2019-07-30 08:02:36 UTC

Tbh

2019-07-30 08:03:18 UTC

In most other cases socialism = 💩💩

2019-07-30 08:03:25 UTC

Economically

2019-07-30 08:04:05 UTC

But I would ascribe the achievements of the Nazis to nationalism not economics.

2019-07-30 08:04:12 UTC

>that's probably one of the only examples of socialism that works

2019-07-30 08:04:24 UTC
