You can argue that socialism always results is government control, but socialism itself is not necessarily government control

2020-03-11 20:23:55 UTC

I blame all eu issues cos of Germany <:TrumpDisgust:624681485525319681> @Ostland

2020-03-11 20:24:01 UTC

yes it is necessarily government action, control, force, implementation

2020-03-11 20:24:10 UTC

@dairypillows is there a government in democratic socialism?

2020-03-11 20:24:11 UTC

Every SINGLE time socialism has been tried (over 100 times) it has resulted in a tyranny and failed.

2020-03-11 20:24:34 UTC

Tbf ur ideology is based on the elementary understanding of a fake idea of “socialism” being propagated by people with a giant platform like Bernie Sanders and AOC

2020-03-11 20:24:41 UTC

@LC Germany, the UK, Sweden, etc. All fit the actual definition of socialism

2020-03-11 20:24:56 UTC

2020-03-11 20:26:24 UTC

“a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state”

From the Miriam Webster dictionary

2020-03-11 20:26:47 UTC

Not the people. The *state*

The idea of “democratic” socialism is fake

2020-03-11 20:26:57 UTC

Ad hominem is not a valid argument, and is also an indicator that you have none.

2020-03-11 20:26:58 UTC

not all authoritarian policies are socialist. but all of socialist ideology relies on authoritarianism.

2020-03-11 20:30:09 UTC

@Doc Jinzo, PhD in Trap Negation you're close actually, the difference is communism is purely theoretical and is anarchic

2020-03-11 20:30:45 UTC

@LC employee owned workplaces are an **expansion of government power**?

2020-03-11 20:31:15 UTC

And socialism on a massive scale would mean the commune (country) would need someone to broker resources, in this case the govt.

And to ur point yes the govt is elected by the ppl so they would control the resources

But what happens when the govt decides to use its newfound control over the resources to no longer have the people be in control of said resources?

2020-03-11 20:31:38 UTC

Those are free to try right now under capitalism. You should get your friends together and start one.
Say, how come those aren't all over the United States?

@saturn broker the employees are the foundation for the business? No, the employees would vote for representatives to sit on the board of directors
