Socialism ABSOLUTELY requires dramatic expansion of government power, and subsequently a reduction in YOUR civil rights, SPECIFICALLY the ownership of private property.
You can argue that socialism always results is government control, but socialism itself is not necessarily government control
I blame all eu issues cos of Germany <:TrumpDisgust:624681485525319681> @Ostland
yes it is necessarily government action, control, force, implementation
@dairypillows is there a government in democratic socialism?
Every SINGLE time socialism has been tried (over 100 times) it has resulted in a tyranny and failed.
Tbf ur ideology is based on the elementary understanding of a fake idea of “socialism” being propagated by people with a giant platform like Bernie Sanders and AOC
@LC Germany, the UK, Sweden, etc. All fit the actual definition of socialism
Those are capitalist countries, you massive walnut
@Doc Jinzo, PhD in Trap Negation propagated by *checks notes* the dictionary
@LC
the people democratically control the means of production
Which is socialism
Read up on codetermination laws
False
Each one of those countries allows private business ownership

"False, my daddy told me socialistsm is the evil gubmint comin to take my shotgun an my beer and I won't be told otherwise"
They do have lots of socialistic policies though. None that I agree with obviously
“a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state”
From the Miriam Webster dictionary
Not the people. The *state*
The idea of “democratic” socialism is fake
Ad hominem is not a valid argument, and is also an indicator that you have none.
not all authoritarian policies are socialist. but all of socialist ideology relies on authoritarianism.
so·cial·ism

But that’s communism tho.
Commune, community, etc etc it’s in the etymology
@saturn broker
***Gives dictionary definition***
"You can't define anything >:("
"We have to take away all your civil rights and massively expand government power, so you can have 'more' freedom, guiz!"
im not even mad lmao. youre trying so hard.
@Doc Jinzo, PhD in Trap Negation you're close actually, the difference is communism is purely theoretical and is anarchic
@LC employee owned workplaces are an **expansion of government power**?
And socialism on a massive scale would mean the commune (country) would need someone to broker resources, in this case the govt.
And to ur point yes the govt is elected by the ppl so they would control the resources
But what happens when the govt decides to use its newfound control over the resources to no longer have the people be in control of said resources?
Those are free to try right now under capitalism. You should get your friends together and start one.
Say, how come those aren't all over the United States?
@Doc Jinzo, PhD in Trap Negation or just Every corporation becomes a co-op
what exactly will employees own and whats the justification for them owning something? if youre an employee at a factory do you get to own a machine? thats private ownership of property then right?
