An argument I read was that the West simply uses ‘the innocence of the child’ to enforce existing gender roles. Even though virtually every time there’s been a study on this, it’s been proven that a stable household (meaning a maternal and paternal figure, not necessarily male or female as children of homosexuals show no signs of an increase chance of homosexuality nor any of the effects that come along with a broken home) is key in the developmental stage.
