Most bikes outsource their parts. My brother is a bike fanatic and hes part are all from different vendors.
It's actually a blessing to have international standards and not be restricted to proprietary standards
Carbon has no resale scrap value. So the changes of being stolen is less
luckily, bicycles being stolen where I live isn't really a thing, at least if you're on it
the only times people steal bicycles here is when you leave it locked somewhere outdoors or during burglaries and I live in an area where 3 burglaries in 2 months was enough to make local news
@andrews2547 in South Africa bike riders get rob on bike paths. And then they loose their wallet cellphones and everything. Atleast you can insure your bike.
If local news would report on every burglary in South Africa it would be still reporting the previous week's news every day.
