*Urbanites* I know some anti-gun Republicans. They're increasingly rare these days (the Republicans have undergone a purity spiral on the issue). They tend to be urbanites and suburbanites who see them as a source of crime.
You can still send your child off to school with a rife and have him come home smiling and safe.

In all seriousness, rural districts still have kids bringing their rifles around school property. As long as no one draws one and things are handled safely, it's fine.

The ATF changed their decision *several years* afterwards to say that it only becomes a machinegun when attached, not just while it's on your shoe.
