if you're designing a firearm you need to use some mathematical equation which involves "fun" "perception" and "technology"

how much fun it is to shoot, is it fun to reload, can you hit things far away

perception as in, is it a high quality firearm, was it made by a well known smith, is it some really really ornate or unique design

and then technology, is it safe? how expensive is it to shoot? is the action a good solution to the problem you're trying to solve?

Then there's overall pricing etc etc etc

single shots not in ridiculous calibers are just not that fun
