In the long term slavery kept the south backward. This paper shows that kids could pick 95% of the cotton that slaves could using the same mrthods the slaves did. http://www.econ.ohio-state.edu/trevon/pdf/Pres_Address_09-02-15.pdf
it wasent hampered because slaves are free after the 1st generation
I know slaves worked less hours than free labourers.
thats retarded
that didint happen, if anyone told you that they are retarded
It's true read this paper. http://www.nber.org/chapters/c0606.pdf
i dont give a shit what that paper says, use your brains
I'm using the paper as evidence to backup my claim.
no, use your brains
whats your superior iq for if you dont use it
what the fuck kind of sense does it make for slaves not to be worked more than free men?
My opinion is slavery wasn't good for most people in America let alone the country.
thats because you rather trust anything that supports your point rather than actually thinking for god damn once about what your saying
I agree it doesn't make sence that the slave owners did that but that is what they did.
Can you show me any papers that prove slavery benefited America?
time traveler aussiearyan over here. doesent know what the sun looks like but he knows what american slave owners did
Or other proof.
well all the things i already said
I've shown you papers that detail slavery compared with free labour in the cotton industry.
You haven't backed up any off youur clames Arch and I've presented evidence which contradicts your claim so why should I believe you?
@Arch-Fiend Henry Ford found that having his workers work less hours was actually better for him in the long term. It meant two things, 1) his workers were better rested, which made them happier and more productive 2) made it so they had time to shop around and buy things. Special his cars. This was counter to the common thought at the time. I mean, paided the same for less work, that is just crazy right? Someone worked to the bone is the most ineffective machine you can have. On top of that, not allowing slaves to really buy their own stuff means everyone suffers as you cannot recover any of the money you spend on them.
yeah counter to common thought at the time
not to mention slaves wouldent apply the 2nd
yeah im not going to read a 73pg long paper either
Ok then just don't claim slavery was good for America because that isn't true.
You could read this paper it's only 33 pages. http://www.nber.org/chapters/c13134.pdf
Slavery did nothing to help the south. It was just convenient for rich people who could afford them who could then push out their competition. So they got rich. Meanwhile nothing really progressed. The south got rich off the success of the north. When competition is low, there is no pressure to innovate. And given that the rich used slaves to beat out local laborers, they could buy up all the good land, making it hard to have a place to even innovate as they had such small fields, if they even bothered with cotton at all.
Very true Grenade, such is the nature of cheep foreign labour.
some retarded comments in the comment section of that last one
yeah the cotten gin didint actually stop slavery
just means you could have slaves use the machine
Nikolas Cruz , the Parkland shooter. Talks like he has an IQ of about 80.

slavery isint the only factor in why america was the fastest growing nation in history, but it is a huge part of it. and the contribution of slaves toward the nation is why african americans had right to be citizines of the united states after the civil war
I disagree with you.
also would have cost a shit ton of money to send 4 million people to another country at no profit
i dont care if you agree with me or not aussie
It would have cost less to free all the slaves and send them to Liberia than one year of the civil war alone.
your not american and you dont just demonstrate a lack of understanding of my country but a contempt to try and understand
