I agree with you there.

2018-05-30 23:54:37 UTC

however slavery is a different matter entirely

2018-05-30 23:54:46 UTC

How?

2018-05-30 23:54:54 UTC

because slaves dont take money from the economy

2018-05-30 23:55:08 UTC

black slavery prevanted Amercians from working in some jobs.

2018-05-30 23:55:11 UTC

they pay the tax of their freedom and their lives

2018-05-30 23:55:47 UTC

yes they did prevent other americans from working in the same jobs but at the same time they didint benifit from it

2018-05-30 23:55:58 UTC

they had a fate worse then unemployment

2018-05-30 23:56:01 UTC

I agree.

2018-05-30 23:56:38 UTC

"the natives were fighting the Amercians to try to prevent the Amercians from building a country."

That statement is wrong on several levels. 1st, not all tribes fought against settlers. They did work side by side when they were fighting a common enemy tribe. 2, they were not fighting a country being built, they were fighting a foreign invader. That would be like saying the US fighting Russians on US soil is the US fighting the building of a country.

2018-05-30 23:57:11 UTC

as such they can only be consitered as contributing to the nation because their labor only went into the nations economy never into their own self interest

2018-05-30 23:58:49 UTC

Slavery only benefited the slave owners it didn't benefit the country, it didn't benfit the workers, and it didn't benefit the economy.

2018-05-30 23:59:02 UTC

it benifited the country

2018-05-30 23:59:08 UTC

How?

2018-05-30 23:59:35 UTC

most northern factorys were cotton production mills

2018-05-30 23:59:40 UTC

It's kept the South poor, prevented industrialization and innovation.

2018-05-30 23:59:50 UTC

actually the south was VERY rich

2018-05-31 00:00:02 UTC

No it wasn't mate.

2018-05-31 00:00:06 UTC

industrialization occured in the north because of the slavory in the south

2018-05-31 00:00:13 UTC

not in the long term.

2018-05-31 00:00:15 UTC

yes it was m8

2018-05-31 00:00:19 UTC

yes in the long term

2018-05-31 00:01:13 UTC

aryan your denile of facts makes it very difficult to argue with you. just tell me my mom is gay and be done with it

2018-05-31 00:01:15 UTC

Industrialization occured in the north because of the cotton industry which by the way used free labour as well as slave labour.

2018-05-31 00:01:48 UTC

It prevented the need to innovate, and used laborers that had no will to do a good job. 1 slave =/= 1 good paid worker

2018-05-31 00:02:55 UTC

They we're rich because they owned most of the farm land for cotton, and everyone around them was still poor.

2018-05-31 00:03:08 UTC

Most people who lived in the south didn't have the money to get slaves

2018-05-31 00:03:39 UTC

to think that slavory, that thing that was one of the most profitable bussinesses in history that DROVE the industrial revolution in the united states. didint have any contribution to the national economy or development is fucking batshit insane

2018-05-31 00:04:09 UTC

What industrial revolution happen in the south?

2018-05-31 00:04:14 UTC

If you look at the numbers slavery was the worst thing to happen to the south. http://www.nber.org/chapters/c0606.pdf

2018-05-31 00:04:25 UTC

nigga the entire country benifited off of slavery

2018-05-31 00:04:42 UTC

theres a reason it took so god damn long to abolish it

2018-05-31 00:04:46 UTC

No it didn't. It kept the south poor look at the numbers.

2018-05-31 00:05:10 UTC

Why spend money on expensive machines and labor when you could buy slaves that could reproduce?

2018-05-31 00:05:28 UTC

In the short term it allowed rich people to get richer and did Jack all to help the people of the south.

2018-05-31 00:05:33 UTC

Just plantation owners

2018-05-31 00:05:40 UTC

because you needed expensive machines and labor to produce products FROM COTTON PLANTATIONS

2018-05-31 00:05:52 UTC

when you pick raw cotton its useless

2018-05-31 00:06:07 UTC

you have to turn it into something, thats what the north's economy was based on

2018-05-31 00:06:23 UTC

Yes, and the amount of cotton picked and speed at which it was picked was hampered by slaves

2018-05-31 00:06:30 UTC

You needed more slaves to do less work
