Heck, for all the progressivism the Hollywood types tote, they'd burst into blames if they tried adapting Something like Sakura Trick... or GASP! An animated project whit a character female who romantically gets together with another female character & they kiss, which I think they did with adventure time recently. So late 2010s children's cartoons have managed to caught up to mid 1990s Japanese (semi-literal this time) children's cartoons like Sailor moon.
Dafuq is that
@da britian i think on commentary of old (or socially conservative) people vs manga, i think the free nature of manga kinda keeps it away from the west, is in stark contrast with what can be published in modern west. I'd argue if the west really fucking sucks in any one way so far as pop culture we are scared of controversial fiction. take 'emergence' as a fairly light example, yes we could write novels like this, we allow all sorts of degeneracy in literature sure, but if you draw pictures to go with it then there is some presumption your a twisted fucked up person. We have a issue with freedom of thought and expression in any visual depiction of fiction, it spooks the shit out of generations who grew up viewing cartoons as something for kids, even if same people probably read some violent comic books growing up.
Your country in particular seems to typify this (if you are actually british), good example was BBC vs Girls und Panzers. Probably the most innocent of all the WWII themed all-female cast shows and BBC railed on the guy.
While I was only growing up during the time and therefore missed the political aspects (I'm also not American so most of my cartoons were imported and translated a few years after), something must have happened to Western (kids, animated) media, because things USED to be a lot more open and... "Inclusive" in the late 80's early 90's
You say a lesbian kiss would be scandalous, but in the 90's we had Ren & Stimpy
Cow & chicken had a "carpet munching biking gang", etc.
So sometime, after Ren & Stimpy, something happened to make it not okay to imply your two main characters are buttfucking
i remember dare
that campaign fell flat on its face after being used for 15+ years
Dare? You mean emergence? Or something else?
D.A.R.E. was a american anti-drug program with good intentions, cops came into schools and educated kids about drugs to keep them off drugs, but it backfired for probably a bunch of various reasons.
Ahh, had no idea
You sick motherfucker
So my buddy is a cop, he just texted me, he is on his third Lesbian Domestic Violence call in two days!
pics or it didn't happen
I mean, I believe lesbians hit each other (nearly) as much as men hit their wives, with the data I've seen the split between men and women initiating domestic abuse the ratio is only 60/40 leaning towards men, and lesbians are far from "usual women"
but why did your buddy get assigned 3 lesbian cases in two days? That can't be pure chance, unless he was assigned 100+ cases in those two days
maybe he lives in a very liberal city
where all the straight people have been mostly scared away with threats of violence
Studies published in the Advocate, state that Lesbian Same Sex relationship are twice as likely to have domestic violence than a heterosexual couple.
yes but why?
the easy conclusion would be "lesbians are more violent"
but I'm not prepared to go there, so I give them the benefit of the doubt
Some people cite the study and claim that women are will incite a fight more readily
Add on to it the same study found man on man Same Sex couples are half as likely as heterosexual couples to have domestic violence
wew
I was gonna say "since correlation does not imply causation, it COULD be "lesbians are **OPPRESSED** and therefore are more likely to lash out against anything, including their partner"
but like... if what you're saying is true (fuck it, am getting drunk, so I'm assuming it is) the only conclusion I can draw is that **women** cause violence because they fucking **beg** for it
