At the time, individualism and classical liberal values seemed to be the best response to progressivism and hard-left-wing ideology, because anything is better than a blatant libtard.

I'm still not cleansed or have washed off modernity, but I'm working to get there.

2020-03-02 17:31:09 UTC

I never listened to him

2020-03-02 17:31:15 UTC

Found him boring

2020-03-02 17:33:15 UTC

He's a good gateway to mild right-wing ideas though. The problem is when people actually don't go further than him with the genesis of right-wing thought.

2020-03-02 17:34:16 UTC

Now, someone like, say, Ben Shapiro, on the other hand, now there's a prick.

2020-03-02 17:53:17 UTC

Peterson’s message is extremely valuable insofar as it argues for Christianity from a distinctly scientific and Darwinist perspective, which is nearly ubiquitous among young men in the postmodern west.

2020-03-02 17:53:41 UTC

You’d have to be retarded not to understand the power and significance of that

2020-03-02 17:54:18 UTC

Granted, he’s at best a stepping stone into the broader right-wing line of thought, rather than an end in himself

2020-03-02 17:54:59 UTC

Although Peterson is an atheist

2020-03-02 18:03:01 UTC

Eh

2020-03-02 18:03:10 UTC

Well there’s an interesting discussion there

2020-03-02 18:03:26 UTC

Of whether one can be a Christian in his actions

2020-03-02 18:03:32 UTC

And whether that is sufficient for our ends

2020-03-02 18:04:40 UTC

I’d rather live in a country of atheists acting out traditional Christian lives than a communist third world Christian country like Angola

2020-03-02 18:04:56 UTC

Where their “Christianity” is just liberation theology anyway

2020-03-02 18:19:54 UTC

You're either Christian or you are not.

2020-03-02 18:19:58 UTC

Peterson is not.

2020-03-02 18:20:34 UTC

I’ve seen several people claim that they became far right through Peterson

My issue is Peterson is his obsession with individualism, how he upholds it and rejects group identity, whether it be religious, ethnic, cultural, none of that matters because your ancestors don’t have *any* effect on your current actions

He legitimately said once that you should not celebrate what they did because *they did that*, you *didn’t*, which is preposterous

2020-03-02 18:20:35 UTC

Peterson is pretty irrelevant at this point and always was overrated

2020-03-02 18:21:28 UTC

Peterson is irrelevant, yeah.

2020-03-02 18:21:37 UTC

I don't like Norik's pessimistic outlook. Also just looking at history the mutligenerational struggle idea is a joke
Grassroots doesn't work, especially if your group stops being a majority

2020-03-02 18:22:01 UTC

Communists had this idea of the inevitability of communism which just ended up sedating them

2020-03-02 18:22:05 UTC

I didn’t even see him as that big a thing

2020-03-02 18:22:15 UTC

Anyone who might go through some sort of Peterson to Reactionary pipeline has probably already done so

2020-03-02 18:22:16 UTC

People have to always be aware what is at stake

2020-03-02 18:22:17 UTC

Sure he owned the SJWs back in the day, but how else was he important

2020-03-02 18:22:50 UTC

Any further conversation is a trickle and irrelevant now, so we can regard Peterson as the enemy that he is

2020-03-02 18:23:09 UTC

Is an enemy still an enemy if he’s not a threat any longer

2020-03-02 18:23:23 UTC

Yes

2020-03-02 18:24:23 UTC

The main issue with conservatism is that it focuses outward

2020-03-02 18:24:36 UTC

@Salvation_Crucifix B-but, DOCTOR Peterson (remember he's a doctor) says that group think and identity politics is ugly! Alt-right is an intellectual movement for weasels!

2020-03-02 18:24:52 UTC

And attempts to build a coalition with groups that perpetually hate it

2020-03-02 18:25:01 UTC

Exactly

2020-03-02 18:25:17 UTC

Yeah, this is the real problem with Peterson, his stated aims are anti-right wing

2020-03-02 18:25:27 UTC

He has explicitly stated that his goal is to coral the far right

2020-03-02 18:25:42 UTC

My main issue with modern day conservatism is its obsession to be one step ahead of the left, to be seen as more tolerant and better than them

It’s a matter of pride all its own

2020-03-02 18:25:47 UTC

The only reason he is interested in crazy leftism is because in his view this opens the door to reactionaries

2020-03-02 18:26:25 UTC

“Why will trans reddit users who think child reassignment surgery is a good thing ever become conservative” is not the question the right should be asking?

The question should be “Why should they?”

2020-03-02 18:26:29 UTC

It’s not actively fighting against them

2020-03-02 18:26:39 UTC

I don’t want those people to come in
