So theres charity. Or welfare.

2018-07-26 17:22:08 UTC

Correct.

2018-07-26 17:22:11 UTC

And the use of either is heavily dependent on culture.

2018-07-26 17:22:22 UTC

Sorry, the reliability of either

2018-07-26 17:22:34 UTC

okayy

2018-07-26 17:23:05 UTC

Well how I see welfare is "We cant trust society to take care of its weakest so we do it for you"

2018-07-26 17:23:12 UTC

Enforced charity.

2018-07-26 17:23:24 UTC

THat is not to say that it is wrong.

2018-07-26 17:23:40 UTC

As everyone has different standards as to who needs help

2018-07-26 17:24:02 UTC

UBI can cover everyone. But there will always be people who will need alot more than UBI provides to live.

2018-07-26 17:24:32 UTC

Yes.

2018-07-26 17:25:06 UTC

Welfare programs would still exist to help those that need more.

2018-07-26 17:25:13 UTC

And well, I can go on, I have spent alot of time thinking. And I am generally very much against any idea of govt controll.

2018-07-26 17:25:43 UTC

So stuff like charity vs welfare, govt vs private.

2018-07-26 17:25:48 UTC

It's not government control.

2018-07-26 17:26:03 UTC

Well, dependence on the govt then

2018-07-26 17:26:17 UTC

It would be money given by the government but with no restrictions on it.

2018-07-26 17:26:24 UTC

Okay.

2018-07-26 17:26:42 UTC

okay where were we

2018-07-26 17:26:49 UTC

It's still government control at the end of the day

2018-07-26 17:26:55 UTC

The money comes from somewhere

2018-07-26 17:27:09 UTC

And government is not a revenue generator

2018-07-26 17:27:18 UTC

government revenue is taxpayer money

2018-07-26 17:27:27 UTC

Yes.

2018-07-26 17:28:00 UTC

Why should the taxpayer be expected to pay into an equity system?

2018-07-26 17:28:10 UTC

It's not an equity system.

2018-07-26 17:28:24 UTC

basic income,

The bottom is equity

2018-07-26 17:28:26 UTC

It is literally redistribution of wealth, just on a small scale

2018-07-26 17:28:31 UTC

Its equal opportunity. If the govt gets its revenue from something other than tax

2018-07-26 17:28:48 UTC

It's not opportunity, it's outcome

2018-07-26 17:29:12 UTC

So you're against welfare?

2018-07-26 17:29:27 UTC

Im only against how its implemented now.

2018-07-26 17:29:42 UTC

Right now its just a really easy way to get votes at the expense of taxpayers

2018-07-26 17:29:50 UTC

As a rule, yes

That said, i can sympathise with those that can't provide for their own due to debilitation,
Hence i'm okay with essential welfare

2018-07-26 17:30:21 UTC

but like ginga said

Not as a means to buy votes

2018-07-26 17:30:36 UTC

I think any safety net should be minimized, and dissolved if a better alternative emerges outside of government provided means

2018-07-26 17:30:45 UTC

Okay, well it is my proposal that this would be a viable option for those that wish to leave welfare and re-enter the work force.

2018-07-26 17:31:02 UTC

The system now is okay, its just too corrupt.

2018-07-26 17:31:11 UTC

No drug testing on applicants.

2018-07-26 17:31:25 UTC

that is the whole idea behind welfare, a safety net to help people get back on track

The issue is "good luck getting people to work if they're comfortable"

2018-07-26 17:31:26 UTC

Drug testing is costly and ineffective.
