you're going to have to define this heriarchy for me, then.
Philosophy is still an Art
Because you've already said that Ethics was a science with many branches.
Now Ethics is a branch of Philosophy.
Draw me a flow chart, please.
Otherwise I'm throwing my arguments into the dark.
mathematics still an art?
logic still an art?
Logic is a tool.
philosophy means science
```philosophy (fĭ-lŏsˈə-fē)►
n. Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline.
n. Investigation of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning rather than empirical methods.
n. A system of thought based on or involving such inquiry```
From the American Heritage dictionary.
okay so what i wanted to debate turned into something else
```philosophy
NOUN
1 noun The study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline.
1.1 A particular system of philosophical thought.
1.2 The study of the theoretical basis of a particular branch of knowledge or experience.
2A theory or attitude that acts as a guiding principle for behaviour.```
Oxford.
thanks for killing the debate
No problem. You don't seem to argue from a factual perspective, anyway.
If we are going to have a debate, it helps if everyone is on the same page
Saying that Philosophy is a science is a HUGE mistake.
That implies that there are absolute answers that are correct without variation.
If you want to talk about Virtue Signaling, and the "Useful Idiots" pushing a particular set of ideas in the most underhanded means possible that is fine. We all just need to be on the same page when it comes to terms
A long time ago, science and Philiosy divided from the one path of intellectualism
You made an assertion that Ethics is a science. I challenged that assertion. If you want to debate ethics, that's absolutely fine
But calling it a science, implying that there is a rigid scientific law that can govern it, is not the way to go about that argument.
Prior to the Age of Enlightment, Science and Philospy were one and the same, but over time Science became the laws of nature, and philisoy became the thoughts of nature
That's a far better explanation.
thas a method
Empirical is a good word to keep in mind.
...
According to a philiosphy class I am not guilty of the charges of Humanity.
~~Philosophy does not show up anywhere on that wikipedia page.~~
lol
wait
Fucking BRAVE search function...
I really need to switch my main browser...
Again a principle started before the Age of Reason
