Yet people here seem to think we need to just bend over backwards over what happened with the crusades

2018-10-11 08:38:22 UTC

Even in that its divided opinion

2018-10-11 08:38:24 UTC

Yeah it's dumb.

2018-10-11 08:38:42 UTC

We are under no obligation to sacrifice ourselves in the name of altruism.

2018-10-11 08:38:46 UTC

i got that from people coming from the congo

2018-10-11 08:39:15 UTC

i mean this is just what they say so idk if its valid

2018-10-11 08:39:39 UTC

but they said that the older generations are divided and it were the younger ones that were really angry

2018-10-11 08:40:19 UTC

And no were not

2018-10-11 08:42:00 UTC

Crusades were a failure, they in fact helped the Muslims in the long run, by weakening the Byzantines to the point where Turks could basically just walk in, i won't debate whether they were justified or not but they were a disaster for sure

```The cure of a sickness can only be achieved if its cause is known, and the same is true of curing political evils. To be sure, the outward form of a sickness, its symptom which strikes the eye, is easier to see and discover than the inner cause. And this is the reason why so many people never go beyond the recognition of external effects and even confuse them with the cause, attempting, indeed, to deny the existence of the latter.```
nice that someone recognize
2018-10-11 08:44:42 UTC
Forgive me for not taking seriously the words of a guy who literally thought he was second coming.
2018-10-11 08:44:55 UTC
looooool
2018-10-11 08:45:56 UTC
jesus was also killed by jews.
2018-10-11 08:46:05 UTC
Jesus WAS a Jew.
2018-10-11 08:46:18 UTC
Wasn't he killed by the Pharisees?
2018-10-11 08:48:09 UTC
There is fair bit of evidence pointing to the fact Jesus never even existed in the first place
2018-10-11 08:50:58 UTC
In Jewish religion Jeshua was sort of god's high priest, mirroring the high priest of temple in Jerusalem, at the time Christianity arose there were so called salvation cults that basically took the Greek idea of afterlife and mixed it with local deity, those salvation cults follow a certain pattern and Christianity fits within it almost perfectly
2018-10-11 08:51:58 UTC
almost all, if not all religions of the world follow such pattern
2018-10-11 08:52:23 UTC
Almost all of those religions arose from Christianity
So I saw the interview Benjamin did with Bannon, and Bannon (roughly) said the average citizen is not responsible for the economic crisis in north Africa and the middle east.
But is that right? Aren't the people to blame for partaking in a predatory economic tactics that they benefit from?
Of course people don't always have all the information on where the stuff they buy comes from or what economy they might be destroying, but when the shoes you buy are dirt cheap I doubt you don't guess in the back of your head that someone is being exploited...
2018-10-11 09:06:14 UTC
Well iphones arent dirt cheap and if u wanna go down that resource line
2018-10-11 09:06:23 UTC
same can be said about computers
2018-10-11 09:07:08 UTC
i mean i can decide to not buy the obvious things
2018-10-11 09:08:19 UTC
I would like a definition of what exactly the exploitation is. Does it apply to all product exported from economically weaker countries ?
2018-10-11 09:08:31 UTC
The fact is most people can't in fact afford to buy things that are not cheap, principles are costly, not everyone can afford them
2018-10-11 09:08:43 UTC
^that is definately another part of it
2018-10-11 09:09:39 UTC
+from our standards child labour is totally unethical
2018-10-11 09:10:00 UTC
but not even that long ago, over here child labour was not only expected but required if u wanted to survive
2018-10-11 09:11:21 UTC
doesnt mean i agree with multinationals going across the world and then paying people a nickel & dime for 14 hour shifts.
2018-10-11 09:11:23 UTC
but at the same time those child labour bans makes childs more vournable to illegal economy.
beacause legal ones cant hire them. and if parents cant/wont rise them. what they are supposed to do.
2018-10-11 09:11:48 UTC
But thats not really an issue in modern western countries jasse
2018-10-11 09:12:21 UTC
yeah. but in those third world countries. that we are "exploiting"
2018-10-11 09:13:15 UTC
we cant expect same standards from third world coutnries.
2018-10-11 09:13:52 UTC
There is a reason why we got rid of it tho, let's not pretend past was all rosy, exploitation of the workers was rife, 18 hour work days 7 days a week, meager salary, non existent safety regulations, at one point 200 people died in a fire because the company manager locked the exit to prevent people from taking a break. Everything in oderation.
2018-10-11 09:14:08 UTC
no its not at all it was a horrible time
2018-10-11 09:14:39 UTC
or countless kids dying during the weaving boom
2018-10-11 09:14:57 UTC
or losing fingers, hands etc
2018-10-11 09:15:55 UTC
But what was it before? no salary at all
2018-10-11 09:15:56 UTC
capitalism as its finest.
