If your guides tell you, “Look, the kingdom is in heaven,”
Then the birds will fly there first.
If they say to you, “It’s in the sea,”
Then the fish will swim there first.
But the kingdom is inside you and it surrounds you.
When you know yourselves then you will be known,
You will know that you are children of the Living Father.
But if you do not know yourselves,
Then you dwell in poverty,
And you are that poverty.

- Hael Yeshua Ha’Notzri, the Gospel of Thomas

Tim should use illegal immigrant instead of undocumented immigrant

2018-10-18 03:05:59 UTC

Pretty sure he was just quoting the article.

2018-10-18 03:06:14 UTC

Ooof

2018-10-18 15:41:08 UTC

Tump should build sky and ocean wall for maximum security

2018-10-18 16:33:31 UTC

Soo... he should build a dome?

2018-10-18 16:34:53 UTC

Yeah that works.

2018-10-18 16:35:52 UTC

2018-10-18 16:37:27 UTC

You ever hear someone say some shit to make someone else sound stupid but then it backfires?

2018-10-18 16:37:35 UTC

This that shit

2018-10-18 16:38:56 UTC

Like "Yo, what you watchin some dude suck a dick for? You gay as shit" -- And the other dude turns and says, "Bruh, this is you suckin my dick."

2018-10-18 16:39:27 UTC

Kinda the same thing as talkin about an 'ocean wall and sky wall' get your shit together

2018-10-18 16:56:06 UTC

Since it came up in a Black Pigeon Speaks video and nobody seems to be paying attention, I'm going to say this. People can challenge me if they want on it.

2018-10-18 16:57:22 UTC

That whole Sinclair Broadcasting thing, where they had presenters across the nation affiliated with Sinclair read a statement talking about partisan news is not a bad thing, and people who think it is are <:NPC:500042527231967262>

2018-10-18 17:49:03 UTC

It wasn't just that they were talking about partisan news, they were pushing a self aggrandising narrative about Facebook being a bad source and how you should trust the news, viewers in [insert location]

2018-10-18 17:50:48 UTC

It was a script that played at false sincerity and camaraderie, and attempted to stop the flood of people going to alt media sources

2018-10-18 17:51:15 UTC

That's not the takeway I got from the entire thing.

2018-10-18 17:51:28 UTC

First off, self-aggrandizing is marketing 101 to begin with.

2018-10-18 17:51:37 UTC

Second off, that's not the extent of what they were doing.

2018-10-18 17:52:21 UTC

The videos highlighting the 'uniform delivery' of the message don't seem to point out that the purpose was to get people to send feedback to their local stations if they feel they're reporting fake news.

2018-10-18 17:54:43 UTC

You'll also note that, despite it being in the actual segments, nobody is actually TALKING about that in the messages. You'll also notice it's being reported on by mainstream sources in a negative light. There's more at play with it than it would seem.

2018-10-18 18:02:15 UTC

@Beemann It was actually kind of difficult for me to actually find a full version of the spot. https://youtu.be/eFB_Rw9dVEg?t=48

2018-10-18 18:07:00 UTC

Basically, the people who were covering this (Keep in mind, it started with Brian Stelter at CNN's coverage) conveniently left out the call to action in the statement. The whole thing was telling people to hold their local stations accountable for their reporting instead of just abandoning them.

2018-10-18 18:12:18 UTC

Final note - If someone wants to report on something like this, but only wants to give you snippets, and no source material, I.E. This memo, or the Google 'Anti-Diversity Screed', get skeptical. Constant awareness of the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is the best antidote to it.

2018-10-18 18:21:48 UTC

The anchors themselves didn't like it, because it reeks of propaganda more than anything else. Has there been a decline in fake news from Sinclair Media Outlets after this incident?

2018-10-18 18:23:49 UTC

Is that why? Or is it because the message goes against partisanship?

2018-10-18 18:26:15 UTC

Keep in mind, that's a report from a Seattle Station. One of the lines in the memo was directly referring to this moment. https://youtu.be/OJ9ce-yMEfc?t=18

2018-10-18 18:28:22 UTC

The article that was linked was actually based in Seattle, an extremely liberal city.

2018-10-18 18:28:31 UTC

"This is an attack on our democracy" is not anti-partisan speech, it's alarmist and propagandistic

2018-10-18 18:28:43 UTC

Yes, and conservatives were also upset about Sinclair

2018-10-18 18:29:05 UTC

'This is an attack on our democracy' is not in the script.

2018-10-18 18:29:08 UTC

There was bipartisan concern
