I have doubts that the Republicans are really ready to do something, but I hear musings the intellectual class of the Republican party is pretty bothered. I thin being close to academia has them aware of the risks.
there's also people who get stuck on econ 101 models and forget the litany of caveats they come with.
Another issue is that too much of the Republican base thinks like Grenade.
and the 'at least it's not the government' crowd
Yes, exactly.
There's alot of naivete in the base.
And they are often the most active ones who aren't willing to recognize the threat.
I used to be like that until I got into academia and saw firsthand where this all leads and how complete it can get.
People are beginning to suspect something smells in the academy, but it's worse than people realize. And the thought leaders of the left want to take that homogeneity and oppression worldwide.
Funny, I always found the center right to be a lot more raucous that the center left. That may be because it's the center right that called me names and wanted to deny my family the right to exist. Again, it's all perspective. No one likes to be on the receiving end.
I'm now trying to cross the divide and see the world through your collective eyes. Hopefully you might try the same from my end.
"I'm now trying to cross the divide and see the world through your collective eyes. Hopefully you might try the same from my end." No, I will never see "Through your collective eyes," because everyone see things differently. Instead I will empathize and try to relate to how YOU SEE THINGS.
I'm not sure what you're referring to unless you are referring to the moral puritans on the religious right. Those guys believe in knocking on doors and annoying everyone--even on the right.
That's what I meant
Yeah, they're increasingly marginal these days.
Oh I have fun trolling Mormans!
"Conservatism as an ideology seems to idolize the idea of being quiet, not causing a fight and then making a change from the top somehow." <- This is what I was referring to. I'm pointing out that the fundamentalist Christians have not been quiet at all about not liking "my people"
Who are "my people?"
GLBT
Trolling Mormons, Khanclansith?
the religious right is dying of old age. they would never have permitted the election of trump if they had any real influence anymore.
Anyways, if you find 3 random conservatives on the street (not the really obvious ones, like the volunteers for the Republican party) most are hiding "in the closet" at their places of work.
I tell them about when I died, and how Jesus told me to fuck off and Lucifer asked me to be a morman, shit like that
Lol.
Ah
Most conservatives tend to be very quiet and don't make a fight with anyone.
The Republicans at my work are not in any closet
Where do you work?
If anything, it's the Dems who are hiding
A hospital
I can say that anyone even center left is hiding around me. But I'm essentially in academia.
I am a leader so I have to be silent
I think these days many Dems are in hiding because of the loonies loudly claiming to be dems
Where's the hospital?
I'm not in hiding, I just make it clear I'm a centrist
Oregon, but not Portland
If a Dem speaks up and doesn't agree with the fringe they are attacked for "Not being a real liberal"
Let's just say I live in quite literally the reddest place in Oregon you can find with a population over 50,000 people
That would make sense.
Interesting. In my experience if you go around with the demographic ratios of a place and count, say, bumper stickers. The left is generally highly overrepresented.
