But yeah Evo is often fairly entertaining, if a bit of a gong show, and I used to watch Quake Live tourneys even though I'm a CPM player because the firing angles are still legit
Cool. I have no idea what you are referring to. Lol. I mostly play Pokémon and some other Nintendo games.
Are computer games expensive? I’ve only played two: math blaster and red alert 2.
I may as well be a boomer.
Depends on what you're trying to play. Between sales and lack of extra platform fees they're usually cheaper
Way cheaper than Nintendo games as well since they actually drop in price ;)
I like red alert 2, but the computer I had for it got too old and I now have a MacBook. 😩.
Good gaming laptops seem pretty expensive too.
don't get a gaming laptop, get a desktop
Desktop is really better?
Ok
Making things small and specialized is expensive. This is true of any computer hardware.
you will get the same performance for cheaper
Yeah I would build a desktop for the games you want to play
also allows you to upgrade parts as needed, so you won't need to upgrade the whole thing. Although the graphics card will still probably be the most expensive part basically setting the total price of your computer
Good point. I could get a tower and hook it up to my TV. This is such a good idea.
So if you only want to play 10+ year old games you could probably get away with a 200 dollar PC easy
You'd probably want to spend a little more, just to make sure you're getting quality parts and maybe a nice case, but still
Ok.
if you are going for gaming only, you can save money on the CPU
But yeah what's the newest shit you wanna play my dude?
>inb4 Kingdom Come
trying to make a PC to do both will cost you as much as that gaming laptop. BUT it will do both, unlike the gaming laptop
With the rise of GPGPU a good GPU can actually carry you in other applications. It depends on if your program is set up to use the GPU or not and if your GPU is expensive because it's overbuilt (AMD) or over-engineered (nVidia).
I don’t know what else I’d really like to play. I’ve never done much with computer games. It would be nice to be able to use Microsoft products at home again. MacBooks suck with number crunching.
Computer games are endless
If you focus on only AAA stuff, it looks like maybe there aren't a lot of computer games.
So it really depends on what type of game you like playing.
Ok
The games list goes all the way back. Dosbox will help you with the older stuff. What genres do you like?
Strategy, adventure/exploration, rpg I guess.
Like RTS/TBS? For adventure do you mean action adventure? Point and click?
For RPGs I can make a big ol list tho
Like red alert two kind of stuff.
Maybe action adventure. I do like Mario games. Even though I stink. Lol
Pokémon is an rpg genre.
Yeah okay, so SupCom is a good 'un, Age of Empires, Total Annihilation. If you're into less basebuildy stuff, Company of Heroes, World in Conflict, RUSE
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is a fun game in terms of exploration and strategy. That being said, it is also a third person shooter which you may or may not like. You are basically fighting a drug cartel in Bolivia but the way the enemy AI is programmed, you can choose whether you want to handle a situation stealthily or go all out guns a blazin'. The playable area is absolutely massive, which is why I say it's a good adventure/exploration
We're talking RDR2 massive
Ok. Cool.
For RPGs, are you only keen on turn based stuff? Or is real time stuff fine as well?
