I don’t care about every players sally sob story.

2018-11-20 16:37:37 UTC

I don't mind hearing about the competitors

2018-11-20 16:38:23 UTC

ESPN stands for emotional sports producing network. No lie.

2018-11-20 16:39:33 UTC

It's more an issue of
You know how you can watch film awards and even if it's a bunch of elitist bullshit there's usually decent production values and a sense of respectability (Post Trump Stress Disorder aside)? And then you watch the game awards and it's an absolute gong show every time?

2018-11-20 16:40:07 UTC

It's kinda like that, but for tournaments

2018-11-20 16:40:30 UTC

Now there's some where they do a good job for sure, but it's a hit and miss sector

2018-11-20 16:42:05 UTC

Lots of misses though. Lol

2018-11-20 16:43:38 UTC

But yeah Evo is often fairly entertaining, if a bit of a gong show, and I used to watch Quake Live tourneys even though I'm a CPM player because the firing angles are still legit

2018-11-20 16:46:37 UTC

Cool. I have no idea what you are referring to. Lol. I mostly play Pokémon and some other Nintendo games.

2018-11-20 16:47:14 UTC

Are computer games expensive? I’ve only played two: math blaster and red alert 2.

2018-11-20 16:48:11 UTC

I may as well be a boomer.

2018-11-20 16:48:17 UTC

Depends on what you're trying to play. Between sales and lack of extra platform fees they're usually cheaper

2018-11-20 16:48:35 UTC

Way cheaper than Nintendo games as well since they actually drop in price ;)

2018-11-20 16:50:54 UTC

I like red alert 2, but the computer I had for it got too old and I now have a MacBook. 😩.

2018-11-20 16:51:12 UTC

Good gaming laptops seem pretty expensive too.

2018-11-20 16:55:37 UTC

don't get a gaming laptop, get a desktop

2018-11-20 16:56:03 UTC

Desktop is really better?

2018-11-20 16:56:22 UTC

Ok

2018-11-20 16:57:07 UTC

Making things small and specialized is expensive. This is true of any computer hardware.

2018-11-20 16:57:30 UTC

you will get the same performance for cheaper

2018-11-20 16:58:07 UTC

Yeah I would build a desktop for the games you want to play

2018-11-20 16:58:18 UTC

also allows you to upgrade parts as needed, so you won't need to upgrade the whole thing. Although the graphics card will still probably be the most expensive part basically setting the total price of your computer

2018-11-20 16:58:21 UTC

Good point. I could get a tower and hook it up to my TV. This is such a good idea.

2018-11-20 16:58:27 UTC

So if you only want to play 10+ year old games you could probably get away with a 200 dollar PC easy

2018-11-20 16:59:28 UTC

You'd probably want to spend a little more, just to make sure you're getting quality parts and maybe a nice case, but still

2018-11-20 16:59:43 UTC

Ok.

2018-11-20 17:00:36 UTC

if you are going for gaming only, you can save money on the CPU

2018-11-20 17:01:09 UTC

basically you can go graphics power (gaming) or CPU power (video editing, computer modeling, etc)

2018-11-20 17:01:17 UTC

But yeah what's the newest shit you wanna play my dude?
>inb4 Kingdom Come

2018-11-20 17:01:42 UTC

trying to make a PC to do both will cost you as much as that gaming laptop. BUT it will do both, unlike the gaming laptop

2018-11-20 17:03:32 UTC

With the rise of GPGPU a good GPU can actually carry you in other applications. It depends on if your program is set up to use the GPU or not and if your GPU is expensive because it's overbuilt (AMD) or over-engineered (nVidia).

2018-11-20 17:05:29 UTC

I don’t know what else I’d really like to play. I’ve never done much with computer games. It would be nice to be able to use Microsoft products at home again. MacBooks suck with number crunching.

2018-11-20 17:16:59 UTC

Computer games are endless

2018-11-20 17:17:37 UTC

If you focus on only AAA stuff, it looks like maybe there aren't a lot of computer games.

2018-11-20 17:17:52 UTC

So it really depends on what type of game you like playing.

2018-11-20 17:19:01 UTC

Ok

2018-11-20 17:33:25 UTC

The games list goes all the way back. Dosbox will help you with the older stuff. What genres do you like?

2018-11-20 17:44:58 UTC

Strategy, adventure/exploration, rpg I guess.

2018-11-20 17:51:42 UTC
2018-11-20 17:53:00 UTC

Like RTS/TBS? For adventure do you mean action adventure? Point and click?
For RPGs I can make a big ol list tho

2018-11-20 17:53:49 UTC

Like red alert two kind of stuff.
