I will fight to protect him even as he eschews my protecting him. We'll be in conflict, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect him and even envy the simplicity of his worldview.

2018-11-30 12:14:36 UTC

That was only a thing because of regulation, if they never regulated it. They could continue on with no consequences

2018-11-30 12:14:57 UTC

no, that's an agreement.

2018-11-30 12:15:21 UTC

I'm assuming he's fine with his son dying due to bad products and that he'll feel redeemed by the legal proceedings afterward to make him whole in his loss.

2018-11-30 12:15:47 UTC

That dont do anything because it's not illegal to lie to your consumers

2018-11-30 12:15:52 UTC

That's the logical conclusion of his argument for a pure free market. He's willing to die for it.

2018-11-30 12:15:56 UTC

Until ofc regulations

2018-11-30 12:17:08 UTC

And kill for it.

2018-11-30 12:17:16 UTC

If they kill my son, i want them dead 😃

2018-11-30 12:17:30 UTC

Yeah, you would have to do it yourself

2018-11-30 12:17:35 UTC

So Paradox, my understanding is that you're okay with laws against harm. So if someone through dishonestly or duplicity causes your son's death or loss of a kidney, you want to see them held accountable by the law.

2018-11-30 12:17:41 UTC

Because no regulation means it was completely legal

2018-11-30 12:18:11 UTC

that would be a breach of contract, yes.

2018-11-30 12:18:16 UTC

You just don't want to regulate against specific means of that harm?

2018-11-30 12:18:28 UTC

I dont sign any contract when I am at the store?

2018-11-30 12:18:35 UTC

you don't have to sign one.

2018-11-30 12:18:43 UTC

Where is this contract they are supposedly breaching?

2018-11-30 12:18:43 UTC

helps in court though 😃

2018-11-30 12:18:54 UTC

sometimes...

2018-11-30 12:19:04 UTC

Is it implied by regulations?

2018-11-30 12:19:12 UTC

I am not against harm either, if it's agreed upon.

2018-11-30 12:20:10 UTC

But it has to be prospectively and specifically agreed upon, right? Like two men about to fight a title match in Las Vegas?

2018-11-30 12:20:43 UTC

You can't just place "This product may kill you. Don't hold us accountable" in 6 point font on a label and you're good?

2018-11-30 12:20:58 UTC

No. It could be sold "as is", at your own risk.

2018-11-30 12:21:02 UTC

Oh my

2018-11-30 12:21:18 UTC

yeah, you and I will never agree :p

2018-11-30 12:21:23 UTC

How do you sue if your dead?

2018-11-30 12:21:30 UTC

Your heirs

2018-11-30 12:21:37 UTC

They died too

2018-11-30 12:21:44 UTC

Cause it was your food

2018-11-30 12:22:05 UTC

If a company is killing its consumers, it won't have consumers...

2018-11-30 12:22:11 UTC

Then you died being pure for your cause

2018-11-30 12:22:23 UTC

A martyr to total liberty

2018-11-30 12:22:25 UTC

Then another company does the same thing

2018-11-30 12:22:40 UTC

Maybe that one company dies out

2018-11-30 12:22:57 UTC

great. The ones that are still around are probably the ones I shop from.

2018-11-30 12:23:20 UTC

Yeah, then they start to sell you false products for profit

2018-11-30 12:23:30 UTC

Then I die, or sue them.

2018-11-30 12:23:32 UTC

Cause hey, it's not illegal

2018-11-30 12:23:57 UTC

and probably buy form somewhere else, too :p

2018-11-30 12:24:00 UTC

It's not illegal to false advertise, atleast not until it was regulated
